Any Range Rover Fanatics Among Us
« on: 08 June 2009, 14:17:01 »

Im sure there are a few cant remember who..

Just bought a very very late P38, Early 2002 model HSE, With FSH, Full Mot.

Not picked it up yet but apart from the intuitive things that i`ll check is there anything obvious that i should be looking for?

Cheers Dears

Hello Markie,
I've had a 99 4.6HSE for nearly 3 years. Check all electrical items work-the heated seats seldom work. Check to see if any water in the drivers footwell-this could indicate leaking o rings on the heater pipes-a pig to replace although they only cost a few pence.

Make sure the air suspension works on all settings and that the car lowers and raises itself automatically at speeds above and below 55mph.

Make sure the climate control has not got the book symbol on it.

Be aware that any electrical faults-air suspension etc, cannot be cleared at homne-the car needs plugging into a Rovacom system.

They may sound troublesome-but the only things I've changed om mine are the exhaust and two tyres-although the dreaded o rings have been lealing a little.

Overall a cracking vehicle-it brings a smile to my face every time I drive it-I shoukldn't say this-but I prefer it to the wifes 3.0litre Elite estate!

Any more questions- give me a pm.

Regards

#Steve

Would love one just ain't got the cash!

Not sure what to look for to be honest. Suspension is one thing that springs to mind, they have air suspension and the pumps are prone to going IIRC.

Get some pics up when you can, lets have a look at it.  :y

EDIT: Beaten to it, as above!

Cheers folks, and anything else from anyone else is much appreciated...

Heard about the O rings, Air suspension is already checked and is spot on, i hear there prone to rust on rear tailgate but that seems fine, also all electrics inc seats are spot on  :y

These things are cheaper than you think folks  ;) :y

there is a lead (about £20) and free software to do the air suspension yourself now  :y

Not the fanciest thing, but works well  :D

Sadly it still uses the shite rover V8 (with the thor setup on it).

Dont off road it, the transfer boxes blow!

I know but with the mark up in prices over another year to the newer engine was not something i can justify for the third car  :(

This`ll do for now i hope, picking it up Wednesday/ Thursday pics to follow  :y

You might well re-coup the markup in price from the fuel savings alone!
