I was removing the sunroof motor/switch housing from my MFL Elite and noted a white plug strapped to the inside. Not sure what it's for, perhaps one of you recognise it? I've got a factory install phone kit but it's not the CCRT70 or whatever its called, so I wondered if this was for the microphone for that kit?

Thanks in advance!  :y

AR35 automatic gearbox, already removed from 70k 3.2 Elite, perfect working order, would suit 3.0 vehicle etc. Yours for £60 collected from Cambs. It's in the way and I'm undertaking a manual conversion so its surplus to requirements. First come first served!

Just out of interest, as there are different timing belt kits for early/late 3.2 engines I wondered if there were any differences between the engines other than the belt tensioners? I couldn't recall anything but thought I'd ask on the off chance. Ta.

Omega General Help / Block to sump sealant
« on: 07 February 2013, 22:15:54 »
Does anyone know what the sealant used that sandwiches the block to the sump is (on a V6 at least)? I don't mean the sump tray (which in the pic below shows grey sealant) but I mean the actual top assembly that joins to the bottom of the block? I *think* it's the black gasket type sealant used elsewhere but wondered if anyone knew for sure?

I've highlighted the bit I mean in the following pic:

Hi all. What are the differences in chassis/engine bay between the four and six pot engines? For arguments sake, let's say I want to replace a V6 engine with a 2.0 lump (ignore the benefits/disadvantages for now). What I need to know is what I'd need to import into my V6 engine bay? Do the different engines sit on different subframes etc? Ta

Omega General Help / does a 2.0 omega engine share 2.2 mounts?

Does the 2.0 engine in an omega use the same mounts as the 2.2 engine?

Omega General Help / Access cabin from inside saloon bootspace
« on: 22 January 2013, 13:31:58 »
Apologies if this has been covered previously but can someone advise how to access the cabin by climbing through the boot? Key broke off in door (lock jammed) but I did open boot successfully. Battery disconnected so can't use remote keyfob. Doh! Thanks in advance!

mini-facelift saloon btw

Hey all, I have a brand new genuine GM rear door for an Omega estate for sale. It comes as a complete shell (they were often sold as two parts for the benefit of body shops etc) and is the rear offside panel.

It has been in dry storage and other than a couple of scuffs is in mint order, ideal to restore your tired panel. Surplus to requirements as I have three saloons hehe!

£70 ono. Item is located in Cambs, although I can take it to Royston, Hertfordshire depending on when you are available.

I picked up a couple of V6 engines, both with suspected HG failure. Lots of horrid oily watery sludge all over the place, both engines full of mayo.

I chucked the engines in the corner and forgot about them for eighteen months or more while I've been getting on with other projects (hence my lack of activity on here of late!). The time is fast approaching where I was planning on rebuilding them.

So the question is; having left these engines full of mayo crap for so long, what kind of additional damage will that have done; will the oily mess be extra corrosive meaning the engines are as good as chocolate, or will I just need to pay extra attention to this bits I need to work on? The previous engines I've rebuilt after HG were done more or less as soon as the failure occurred.

Thanks in advance.  :y

I've got a minifacelift Elite with BOSE and a facelift MV6 without Bose. The latter has the NCDC2013. Is the Bose speaker/amp set up from the earlier car compatible with the later car? I imagined they might be more or less the same system pre and post facelift with the headunit being the bit that changed but I thought I'd pose the question. Ta.

There have been quite a few posts about replacing chrome trim on the rear bumper for pre-facelift and mini-facelift models but no maintenance guides. I thought I'd put one together to help with what seems to be another common Omega concern. For the purposes of the images, the work in this example was carried out on a mini-facelift Elite.

This guide will also cover removal of the rear bumper and replacement of the bumper supports as I did these at the same time and you need to have the bumper off to do this job. I realise there is a separate bumper replacement thread but figured it wouldn't do any harm to have another one bundled with this guide too. The different steps are outlined below. I have posted each stage separately for ease of reading.

Right, lets get started. The chrome strip on the rear bumper comes in three parts: the centre, left and right sections. Ensure you have all three parts (or if you have only one affected section just a replacement for that).

If you are replacing bumper supports (these are the long plastic supports that screw into the body of the car and hold the bumper in place on either side of the car) then you will need replacements of these. Your best bet is to find them in good condition off of a breaker, however, part numbers are: 90458214 and 90458213 if you can't source any. The chrome strips I used were from a breaker, but you can probably get these elsewhere new.

oil cooler failure seems to be quite a common occurence with omegas when they get to a certain age, and it's a problem that rears it's head on the help pages here quite often. i had an oil cooler failure recently, well documented on this forum, and subsequently i have been asked about the parts required for the repair by quite a few members. hopefully the following will help anyone in a similar situation; illustration and part numbers (based on repair on 3.0 v6):

1. 90424578 HOLLOW CHANNEL BOLT FOR COOLER RADIATOR
2. 11076852 METAL COOLER O-RING
3. 93176626 COOLER RADIATOR AND COOLER PLATE (INCLUDES NUTS)
4. 93165267 SEALANT (GREY STUFF (MAY COME IN DIFFERENT PACKAGING))
5. 90409175 O-RING BETWEEN COOLER PLATE AND COOLER RADIATOR
6. 12992646 HOLLOW CHANNEL BOLT FOR COOLER BRIDGE
7. 12992647 COOLER BRIDGE SEAL

ALSO THE FOLLOWING (optional, not pictured)

8. 90502201 THERMOSTAT
9.  9128363 THERMOSTAT O-RING
10. 9129999 COOLANT TRANSFER PIPE O-RING (FEEDS INTO THERMOSTAT HOUSING. ORDER 2 OF THESE)

i would advise doing the thermostat at the same time as this job as you're already in the affected area, however, if you're convinced yours is fine then this info can be ignored.

the illustration also features a gasket sitting beneath the cooler plate. this is not required as the correct sealant will do the job and is no longer supplied by vx, however, i have included it in case you find one when you take your cooler plate off and wonder what it is.

finally, a point re items 1 and 6 (the hollow channel bolts). these are not essential items to replace as they may well be in good condition on your vehicle, however, considering the low cost involved in replacing them i have included the part numbers here.

oh and don't forget the new coolant ;-)

i have the colour satnav shizl for my mv6 with the navtech satnav disc that was issued at the original point of sale. in short, will later navtech discs work in the same system, or to put the question another way, does anyone know what the most recent edition of the navtech disc is that will be compatible in the 2013 omega unit?

cheers m'dears  :y

when fitting a cid and ncdc head unit can anyone advise on the cables and connectors required? i read this guide which advised on the 32 and 12 pin connectors, but wondered about the cables going from gps antenna... from the donor car is it enough to just rip a length of loom from the correct parts and fuse them into the loom of a non cid/2013 enabled vehicle?

i think the battery on my keyfob has packed up, so the boot button doesnt work. i tried pressing the boot button on the dash but nothing, so i wondered how you open the boot without the key button active? on my minifacelift i could just put the key in the boot lock!
