General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?

Might be wrong there. Was it the front that was torsion bar?
Whatever, it wasn’t too pleasant.

Yep, front had torsion bars and was spongy as hell with way too much travel. Rear had leaf springs that were rock hard and had very little travel. What could possibly go wrong there?

Oh, and the front trunnion joints needed replacing with every MOT, because they were designed for the Morris Minor.

The drivers (well, one of the drivers) in front of me who were travelling at 60mph but decided to come to a complete standstill because an Ambulance on blues and twos was approaching from behind. With heavy traffic coming from the opposite direction, the Ambulance was stuck. Well, until a driver coming from the opposite direction had the foresight to give them space to continue.  ::)
Why don’t drivers just keep moving and allow the emergency vehicle to pass when it’s safe to do so. At least that way, the emergency vehicle is still making progress, and my blood pressure wouldn’t rise due to screaming at the driver who stopped.
I honestly think that they should run adverts to publicise this more, as some drivers just panic.

It never ceases to amaze me how some drivers are like a deer in the headlights as soon as something unexpected happens. Had 2 of these idiots stop, adjacent to each other, on a single carriageway on my commute recently, completely blocking the way.

A mate of mine used to run a business importing  gliders from Germany, and he had one of those. Apparently, when he was late for the ferry, it was quite happy towing a glider trailer at 120 MPH. :o

I was assured by the polishing brigade - the jag forum mob - painting them red would give me 300 more horsepower and would allow me to outbrake Schumacher's F1 car....

What? Paint them yourself? :o Or do the main dealer do that now? ::)

So many things that stink end up leading to B. Liar and Mandelson in the end. >:(

I thought I read something about them doing facial recognition ages ago. Didn't pay much attention as there's as much chance of one of them appearing on my door as a french car on my driveway.

That just goes to show how corrupt the lefties are that we're expected to just suck it up whenever they try to pull a fast one.

It's almost worth voting Reform as a Thank You.

I'm sure many will come May. ;D

Planet killing soot chucker's should meet the same end as the dinosaur. :)
Nothing used to hear me up more when I was in the Battlebus - before DTM fixed it - of lifting then flooring the throttle, covering the car following too close behind in a cloud of soot.

I always used to chuckle ;D

Wasn't half as much fun after DTM made the Battlebus work properly, but was a damn site quicker ;D

A mate of mine bought 2 minis for £50 back when we were young, with the idea of making one good one. One was an 850 with rather poor piston rings. At one point, we were being tailgated by some tawt in a white convertible rolls royce. He dropped it down a cog and let it overrun for a second, then floored it and he disappeared in a plume of blue smoke. Kept his distance after that!

If the last car on earth was made by Stellantis I'd rather walk, so not bothered what form of dead dinosaur they burn. ;D
You'll be ok, Kevin, the gay jag will be along soon  :)

I've hundreds of them  .... tiny 1.5mm up to 19mm & probably bigger. But as above, no 7mm or 11mm (did actaully have a 7 but it wouldn't fit in)

Same when I got the XE. One end needs a 7mm long hex key and I think that's an 11mm at the other end. Probably the same manufacturer of calipers. Fancy picking the two sizes that nobody will have in their toolbox. >:(
Yup, XE uses Teves/ATE brakes, and are 7mm at rear and 11mm at front.  Worth ensuring you have both, and I'm staggered you haven't had to change the pads at the front yet :o

Additionally, when you do, the wear sensors are stupid money from JLR - something like £25 a pop last time I bothered checking.  If you're not in a hurry, they are around £2 each from Ching Chong land, which makes it almost worthwhile replacing them rather than pissing around trying to short them.

Oh, I have changed them several times and consigned the wear sensors to the bin.

I wouldn't mind betting the additional wind resistance discounts the benefit of anything the solar panel generates.

So yes, owner is plausibly someone as environmentally deluded as Milipede....

Are there elections in May?

They've effectively cancelled many local elections to try and bias the vote.

Take Sussex... West Sussex is predominantly right wing, Brighton is predominantly Vegan leftists. By combining West Sussex with Brighton, they've effectively neutered to Right leaning vote.

"We can't have elections yet because we haven't finished Gerry-mandering the seats". ::)
