Thats what I thought but as I have said no one up here will sell just the bushes. Any idea where I can get some if they are gone?

Omega General Help / No lights on..is someone home?

Do you agree with my reasoning?

Started mega and set off for work. Battery/ignition light coming pulsed on then off along with light next to it with engine running. Engine able to rev but no speedo or tacho. Switched off engine, turned on ignition now no battery charging light. Engine starts but no tacho or speedo.

Checked out battery voltage and shows 12.45v with engine off, 11.4v with engine on. So thinking alternator shot. Have checked connections at rear of alternator for tightness, all o.k.

Does any one of you good peeps know of a sorce for parts for a 100 amp 14v alternator. Only motor factors around here will exchange knackered alternator for 'refurbished one'.

Try the stealers, my stud and nut was missing and got charged just shy of £2.

Suppose that a nut on its own will be about £1, but who knows from VX dealers. :o

Omega General Help / Re: Steering wobble when braking.
« on: 16 July 2007, 09:18:24 »
Had a bad wobble on my motor from speed.
Was going to change front disks ( got them from a cheep source, ;D Hotel21,) When about to remove disc on near side, after taking off wheel, found top bolt on brake calliper not tweaked up tight. Tightened bolt up, wobble fixed. :y

Always check the simplest or replace cheapest part first. ;)

Hi, It will more than likely to be the adjustment on the rear handbrake shoes that need adjusting. To do the job you need to jack rear end up. Put axle stands underneath. Release the hand brake. Remove rear wheels and through one of the removed wheel bolt holes you can just get in with a small screw driver and push on a serrated wheel. This will adjust the 'shoes' to take up the slack. Usually there is a build up of rust inside the brake drums which are part of the rear disc's.

I would suggest you take the rear disc's off ( there will be a How to for this on this site), clean the rust from the drums and replace and adjust the brake shoes.

It is not an over difficult job to do, the only hard part is getting the disc's off the back. You will probably find after cleaning you will have to adjust the cable again. :'( :'(

But, only do this once the handbrake is slack!

Miggy sorted now, it was the battery, cost £90.00.

 :y :y :y :y :y
Glad its sorted  :y, shame about the price  >:(

She is worth it

 :y

...could have got a lot of 1.5v dry cells for that money. Perhaps changed the car into a milk float. ;D ;D

Was told many moons ago by a garage that even with nothing on in a car stood for a long period the battery will eventually discharge through the diodes in the alternator. Do not think this is valid for the Omega, but certainly do disconnect battery from my classics, especially if i know they will not be used for a long time. Works for me. :y

Sorry to ask but, where is the ICV on a facelift 2.2?

The time has come to do a clean on mine as it has now done 107,000 miles.
Have cleaned out the breathers and throttle body so want to finish off with the ICV. So a point in the right direction would be appreciated.

Thanks.
dbw, doesn't have one ;)

ecu directly operates throttle to control idle...

Thats why i could not find it then...been a long week. :-[ :-[

Omega General Help / Re: i really could do with your help......

Welcome to the forum Marie,
looks as though you have had a few answers to your question so i cannot and any more.

Been a long time since i was stationed at Cottesmore and cannot recommend any garage down there. The Sun Inn though is another story and the Rutland Arms in Exton. ;D ;D ;D

Can you still get Ruddles?

Cottesmore is near Oakham and about 4 miles off A1 from the Ram Jam Inn turnoff.

Hope it stays fixed.
Was wondering if the gearbox warning was tied into a crank sensor fault.....might also cause idle control problems if the control loop is getting poor quality pulses from the sensor.

Yep hope its sorted too  :y

On a 2.2......you can actually unplug the crank sensor or cam sensor.....it will struggle to start but it will and idle ok @ 600-700 rpm.....unless mine is the odd one out  :-/

When i have the courage i will try it. :o :o :o

Was of that thought myself Matchless, will keep fingers crossed and travel in hope.

On your suggestion of an air leak i did go around the flange of the throttle body with WD to see if it changed. Trouble with Fly by wire if a connection is poor then the signal is not returned on the throttle posistion to the ECU. ;)

Good news folks, just got back in after fitting the dried out throttle body. Also sprayed the electrical connector that goes into the throttle. Started up at the right tick over but had auto gearbox on mid but no EML. Switched off, swore under my breath, then tried again. Works o.k. and no EML or mid warnings. Drove about 2 miles and throttle responds really well. No hesitation and lots of go, well for a 2.2 anyway.. ;D ;D

Must keep an eye on that connector though, thinking of putting some white grease around the outside to keep the moisture away.

Thanks again every body. :y

Cannot get live data as i believe you cannot paper clip a 2.2 2000 my.Or am i wrong? :-[

Thought you would say something along the line of a throttle body problem so have taken the thing off again. The electrical end connector looked wet. Have cleaned out with WD40 and also took off the cover from the wiper feedback.

Looks as though they are sweeping clean and the throttle snaps back cleanly when opened by hand. Sits slightly open and you can press gently and throttle butterfly closes off. Opens slightly when pressure removed from butterfly.
