Taken big blue to the MOT tester. Waiting time.....

Well after the purchase of a new (well pair) of front tyres it passed.
Knew they would be advisories, but one was worse than I thought.

Need to do a Track Rod End, and have the geometry set up too.

Need to work out which one to buy first be it GM, Lemforder or A N Other

Genuine was £64 for full 3 part kit.

Lemforder £66!

Non-makes from £20

Given poor life in the past from pattern TRE's and the added cost of geometry, decided to stay genuine

Removed the power sounder and sealed the scuttle.  Power sounder wouldnt die though bucket of water with a brick on top and it still carried on for 10 minutes chirping away >:(
I could never find a supplier for Power Sounder batteries, has anyone else ?

No. Just kill it, before it kills your car.

Batteries are readily available... Whether obtaining and fitting them is a good idea or not is a different question ::)

Yesterday ... 4 new tyres ... :(

Today ... Full Geometry at WIM. Complimented on the condition of the car and thanked for the condition of the Trackrods both front and rear ...  apparently the easiest omega adjustments he's had to do in a long while.  All that copper grease on fitting and a liberal dose of Plus Gas every day for the last week seems to have worked !!

Seems my thoughts were correct .. the pothole that damaged the bumper also knocked the tracking out by quite a long way.

So, an oil/filter change and a breather clean and mechanically she's ready for France .. :) doesn't look like the bumper will be done in time though .. :(

Have you got a brick resting on the pedal, Al?  :o

Tonight I fired up the car laptop and 'registered' the replacement battery in the BMW - vaguely hoping that will fix the random electrical faults, but on further investigation I suspect that's because the alternator occasionally pumps out 17V which causes the ECU to shut the alternator down and makes all the various ECUs freak out, understandably.

D'oh.

Also reprogrammed the dash to show the speed as a digital speedo (as well as the standard analogue) and tried (and failed) to enable MP3 playback from data CDs.

  ;D 23 roundabouts in 23 miles doesn't help ::)

They were a set of £31 Ebc Ultimax, work a treat, but very dusty... Think I have simply vapourised them ::) discs don't look at all worn, which is impressive as I wasn't sure about them... Mintex cheapies.

The extra diameter and thickness over stock discs certainly seems to help with reducing fade :y

My wife has a shorter, but similar, trip into work. About twelve roundabouts. Her car is going in for discs and pads all round next month, but she has had 45,000 miles out of them.

The basic black ones?

Same on bikes, black ones lasted 200miles on the cbr.

No performance elemant to them at all. As far as a I can see.

If it's a car heavier than a fag packet I'd go with Yellows every time if using EBC - I even ran them on the MR2 (which was ~1100Kg without me) and they worked well enough from cold.
