Yep....that's the johnny, Tig.

Unless prices have gone up significantly since I bought mine I think it can be had for a lot less than £265.

Lord Opti bought a cheap Chinese self propelled thing at the end of last summer, and he's probably used it a few times by now so will be able to give a review.

It had a beer can holder!  8)  :y                               Which is all you need to know!  ;D

Parker Brand petrol mower with drive and a large 53 CM cut.

About £300 on Ebay but shop around and I reckon you can find one for £100 less. I believe I paid £190 ish.

Can't fault it for the money other than being glacially slow.

Chinky 173cc 4 stroke lump seems OK.

This one M'lud?  ???

https://www.parkerbrand.co.uk/17-self-drive-petrol-lawnmower

Maybe you could get it remapped to give it a bit more Oomph!  ;D

Except mine has a 21 inch cut not 17inch, and 173cc engine not 150cc.

Also, my grass box is 75L not 45L.

I have it's bigger brother so to speak.

Had a look around a few places, and quite liking this
https://www.charlies.co.uk/stihl-rm253-t-self-propelled-petrol-lawnmower.html

I dont want too big.
I dont want a fabric collection 'box'

Felt comfy to use and decently made.

It is now difficult to start, the pull handle feels like its going to fall of at the next pull every time.

Ok....it did fall off at the next pull  ;D ;D

2 metal 'weights' plastic riveted on....or were....no chance of a start now

From memory the Suffolk Punch shares the same engine as the Suffolk Colt so opens up another spares avenue. The recoil starter is held on by three nuts and once removed exposes the metal parts that fling out to engage the starter and then spring back. The spring, cord etc is straightforward so I assume the fling out bits have come adrift. If you can't find a replacement and you're feeling brave, you can knock up a bracket to fit the flywheel slots and start it with a drill. You just need to be very quick at removing the socket once it starts.   ;D
The carb is straightforward as you've probably already found out but both of these models were prone to fuel tank tap leaking. If you know someone in a machine shop, both the footplate (cutting edge) and blade can be sorted. We used to remove the blade (chain driven) and stick it in a lathe with a running centre. You could always tell when one of us was doing it by the ping ping ping as the cutter touched the cylinder blade.  ;D

Yes the pawls have come off, one 'could' go back on, other has sheared, Ive not found a similar enough one yet.  I'll not be going down the drill route.
If I could get gaskets, carb be ok.  Or a replacement may work if they fit.  dunno.
Either way, time, and need to cut the grass are against me.

No final decision yet.

May continue to play with the old one in the background, but need something that works and is appropriate for what I have.

Rats amd mice made a meal out of mine. :-X

I've often thought that Jay Leno would be a good bloke to have a pint with.

I wonder what the topic of conversation would be ::)

I know, pick a car make, but lets sit in one while we chat. :y

It's Lord Opti, so the topic would be 19 year old blondes with big tits;D

Sounds like your Marina conquests. ;D

Sought after classic Vauxhall due on 9th June.

The Mexican coupe due on 15th June.

I'm hoping I can insure the pair for  less than £500 if I shop around.
Less than the road tax on the classic Vauxhall ancient sigmund  :y

Roughly £730 for the Signum when taken in 12 monthly payments, and £600 due for second year road tax for the Bavarian.....If memory serves the first year was around £1400. :-\

To tax the large arsed insignia,, that runs on forklift fuel costs a staggering £20 English pounds per year, and it's paid in one go...none of this instalment rubbish ;D
I'm jealous, my diesel astra is £30[/highlight]  :'(

Both you and BG can f*uck right  off.

£20 and £30 indeed. :P :P :P

A quick google suggests he owns 181 cars and 160 motorcycles.

Can't be short of a few bob. :)

He must have a big garage.  :)

Apparently it's 140,000 square feet.

Room enough for a Marina or two. ::)

I wonder if he'd like a Marina for his collection???   I know where there's a nice looking coupe finished in Royal Blue for sale.  :)

I don't think it's the desirable 1800TC version though.  :-\                                                  ;D

That would be the cherry on the cake. He already owns a Macca F1 worth £12 million.

Have you tried the multi car route.  I used Admiral years ago and found it kept getting cheaper depending on who picked the phones up (Get the timeing right when the Canadians pick the phone  and if its a bloke start talking cars/pickups and for some reason the price drops)  ::) :y :y

I have looked, Skruntie.

It doesn't seem to be cheaper with just 2 cars. However, if I owned 200 cars like Jay Leno it would probably work out less expensive.

No point seeking advice / diagnosis on a car forum.
Make an appointment with your Doctor and ask for tests.  :y

Yes...I believe there are appointments available for 2029. ::)

Virtually impossible to get to see the quack on the NHS. You either die or pay for a private appointment. :)
