Breakdown

Oh the joys. Was servicing the Zafira and snapped the boost valve. Pop to the dealers to buy a new one in the MV6 And break down in sight of the parts dept.

So sat here waiting for the AA with the part to fix the other car sat next to me.

Ohh the irony. And they won't lend me a tech 2

Just need to work out how to securely attach the fuel pipe to a new fuel filter now.

Yup. Quick easy fix.

Pedal truck was just constant flashing so no use.

Just need to do a proper fix now that doesn't involve cable ties!

Tech2 would have been nice, until I realised what the problem was...My priority was to go to the dealer and pick up the part to fix the other car before they closed....could worry about the breakdown after...

Anyway, will get under this morning to see whats what, I wont do a repair until next week when we wont need the car for a bit, just in case...

So repair....before looking I can invisage 2 possible solutions..

1, Filter, new bit of fuel hose over filter, clipped in place, then slide a bit of tubing, such as 8mm copper into the end of the cut off fuel line, slide the other end into the bit on the fuel filter, 3 fuel line clips.  Job done.

2, bit of new fuel hose slid over both filter, and over the cut off fuel line.  2 fuel line clips, job done...

Not sure which is best, or what size the hoses under there are to allow which fix...Comments?

Don't know if this helps or not - had stupid clip break on me, so repaired thus. Idea originally picked up on another thread on here suggested regularly by Dr G.  :y

Option 2, proven, cheap and bulletproof plus future filter changes still easy to achieve (get stainless fuel hose clamps and not jubilee clips)

Cool. So no need to 'brace' the inside of the existing pipe to prevent the clip crushing it?

Pipe a lot smaller than I remember....

Temp fix increased in strength and reliability, will fix the pipe next week.

No need to use any sort of insert in this instance as its rubber part being pressed against the plastic item and not say a hard metal olive against the plastic (as per some diesel type fuel lines).
