When my 2.2 HG goes, and it will sooner or later. Fitting a 3.2 instead 

Is it just leccy loom and exhaust that would need to be changed? Its already setup for electronic throttle body, so no need to fit cables through.

I was also thinking of swaping a v6 into my 4 pot. Changing an engine, I thought, was actually quite easy. It just looks alot worse

There's a good chance of me getting the engine+gearbox and all "bits" from a 2.5 in the next few months/1 year.

I'd imagine its just a case of loom/heatshields and gearbox.
Not sure about the diff though.
I've had the two cars next to each other and all the stuff is on the four pot for a v6 like the brackets for the exhaust and studs for the heatshields etc.

It shouldn't be much more difficult than just swapping an engine.

Yes it would be cheaper, easier, less hassle and have more sanity. But like I always say , where's the fun in that

I would need the gearbox too, have to get the engine and box from an x-plod car....

Nah, different setup....the 4 pots have an 8 coil controller, the V6's have a 12 coil controller.

not only engine and g.box tho,
what about suspension, brakes diff, propshaft etc etc a lot of work although easy done if you have the bits!! trouble is the four pots do not have the mountings on the body for the twin horse pipes plus the engine moutings are in a different place etc etc

Well, yes and no. At least you aren't radically changing its' performance.

1 - change it to a manual with DVLA, and hopefully the insurance databases will pick it up as a manual, without further questions asked
