General Car Chat / New car.....
« on: 11 December 2014, 14:31:56 »
So i`ve been car shopping for a new 4x4, really wanted a Disco 300 tdi or Td5 but people wnted too much money for rot boxes and mot failures. I even considered a P38 at one point but then a mate told me about how much he loved owning a jeep cherokee so i had a look at a couple and finnally decided on a 02 model cherokee with 60,000 on the clock, i`m really chuffed with it and love driving it. :y :y

General Car Chat / Stressed out...
« on: 26 September 2014, 13:39:38 »
I was already dreading today, what with it being my diabetic clinic appointment and the fact my readings have been high. Even though ive cut my portions and took more exercise, but I stray from what I was gonna say. Whilst taking the wife to work I had the delightful pleasure of a middle aged business woman in a soured up Honda civic( contradiction there) sitting 5 yards off my rear  now after being hit twice in the chuff in the last 2 years I was a little nervous to say the least. So as soon as it was possible I went to change lanes and get the hell out of her way only to find she tried to overtake me up the inside as I moved over. We didn't collide but my wife was shocked and stunned to say the least. So off she went after pulling a manouvere Lewis Hamilton would of been proud of by quickly going right and around me with her horn going and giving me the finger. Anyways she then got cut up by a transit van who must of thought he was nico rosberg, so I dropped the wife at work and continued to the docs for my telling off over my diabetes only to find as I pull up the temp gauge goes ballistic and steam starts billowing out from the front of the miggy. I gingerly opened the bonnet and discovered a cracked radiator and so after a couple of phone calls I'm gonna be lighter to the tune of £200-240...😬 ive had to bite the bullet and get it sorted today as I was meant to be at work for 7am today and I finally rolled in at 1150am after the rac and public transport got me home and then onto work... So what was the outcome of the diabetic appointment??? Nurse called in sick today so my appointment was cancelled till next week.... 😦😦😤

Omega General Help / 2.2 auto box probs
« on: 31 August 2014, 17:00:28 »
Hi guys, my 2.2 petrol estate has developed a  fault where it slips into a false neutral sometimes after starting and running 30-40 yds or whilst navigating he junction I get off at work. Ive sourced a good quality replacement box off ebay. Do you think I should just swap the boxes or spend some more money on getting the box flushed and a new filter and fluid put in? Ive been quoted £150 for the flush and service so i'm just undecided what to do at moment as I'd like to keep the miggy as im happy with it.... :-\

General Car Chat / Oil in plug wells
« on: 10 July 2014, 19:27:08 »
Hi guys, the miggy has been running rough lately so I thought I'd investigate and I found all 4 plug wells full of black oil.. Now I did and oil change on Monday and flushed the engine... The oil that came out was black and full of sludge so I reckon I'm the first in a long while to service her, I've checked the oil in the engine and it's still clean so I reckon it's built up over time and nobody's bothered to sort it till now... Any ideas as to what gaskets failed or failing???

General Car Chat / Land rover disco 1 MOT.....
« on: 30 April 2013, 14:23:08 »
Took the old girl in for her mot last week..... She failed on her track rod end dust covers being damaged, I decided to change the  ends completely and free up the adjuster bars. She also failed on the middle box and brakes...
3 days later I went back after changing the ends and box and brakes... Tester comes up to me and says your trackings out, I said yes I know. I need to get it done once you pass her, he then says oh we`ve attempted to adjust it but you`ve put the track rod ends on wrong so the bar is only going left and right and not tracking. I asked why he was doing that as I`ve not asked your garage to do it?? I was going to john craddocks in Cannock to get that done. Oh the lad behind the counter told us to do it he said... so I spoke to the lad behind counter who looked shocked and said NO.. I told them the tracking would be out.. but your just here for a Re-test on the failed items... He goes to speak to them and they tell him Oh we just thought we`d do it for him and charge him.. But we can`t do it anyways because the rods are on the vehicle incorrectly... So I finally get out of there after 2 hours to find my steering is all over the place.. I limped over to John Craddocks and they are pissing their selves after I tell them the story of me inccorectly fitting the ends according to the local fitters/mot garage. you cant fit them wrong mate.. I`m told. theres 3 right hand threaded rods and 1 left hand thread rod... Yep I reply I know, I bought them from your parts dept and the lad in there even told me where and what trouble I`d have with fitting them. so Craddocks put her on the ramp and in 20 mins I was out there with a perfect tracking....
Moral of story???? Stay away from garages that only employ fitters who cant get a job with kwik fit.....

« on: 16 January 2013, 20:40:04 »
In 2010 i was 1 of 3 members of staff who where not successful in interviewing for their jobs which had been changed and thus enabled the new contractor to downsize staff and such..... So i had to sign on and recieve JSA for a few months till i got another job... today i recieved a letter from the inland revenue telling me i`ve underpaid tax for 2010 -2011 and owe them £436`s....Whilst talking to the lady at the end of the phone she s told me to expect another letter soon telling me i might have an underpayment for 2011 - 2012 as well..... it never rains it only pours dont it...... :( :(

General Discussion Area / Work related
« on: 15 December 2012, 11:24:06 »
The retail site i work has changed landlords but our security/facilities company has been retained (for now).... I was reading the e-mails that come and go via the blackberry, you have too otherwise you dont get told anything about the site...Now whats troubling me is the amount of lies being told by our management about what we do on site and what equipment we have to service the site. Now 1 of the lies is the works van its an 02 1.8 diesel escort van thats seen better days, it has a major fuel leak via the injectors its got a oil leak thats coated the engine its thermostat and water pump are leaking(but the engine needs degreasing before garage will touch it) its rear light now work independantly. So its been in and they qouted over £1500`s worth of work to do just these jobs.... Also when we get the gritting report they expect us to use pedestrian gritters to grit the entire retail park off 15 bags of grit so you reduce the amount of spreading to a minium to make sure you dont go over the alllowed amount. If you do then its a disciplinary. Now we have a towable gritter rusting away in peices because we dont have any tools to repair it(its had it now anyways to rusty to weld). I had a conversation with an area manager last week who confided in me(now i`m only a security officer not a manager) that the landlord who took over all 6 sites in november has had to do qoutes for new bins and a possible relocation of our office to somehwere more visable to the public(currently hidden in a portacabin with no running water or toilet facilties)...Now he told me the landlords started to find stuff out I.E. where are the vans on each site(only 2 vans) where are the towable gritters? why are we gritting by hand?(they get charged £1500 per gritting session) why is there 2 landscapers for all 6 sites(if they knew the landscapers cover other contracts as well) and other things as well.... Its making me and a couple of colleagues very nervous at the least.. I mean with the last landlord we achieved a gold status for our work on site(landscaping and cleaning and car park security) we`ve been working with bare tools for so long its unbelievable, I mean i`ve even took my tools in in an effort to service and repair our green machine and billy goat(these are indespensable to us).... I just feel that either our company wants to lose this contract or they are gonna keep going till they get found out BIG TIME!!!.....Oh and i had to buy a set of wiper blades for the van because you could not see where you where going...Not been re-imbursed as of yet....

What's the bets nobody will have my glass in stock???      :'(
