Are the aluminium heat shields required for the MOT?.
My beloved MV6 didn't have any for the last dozen or so years of its life ;D

Still not built up enough confidence in the Big Black Pussy following the work done, so used the worlds fastest car to come to Guildford.

I was caught out by how crap the new Corsa handles, and got the heart pumping when the back tried to overtake the front.  I should know better, as its not the first time I've been caught out by one :(

Waze decided to bring me the long scenic route, so at least I saw some pretty countryside, even if it did take forever!

Thanks TB.....they were as loose as the snatch on a fifty year old Bangkok hooker, so I dragged them out. No adverse effects.

In my case, every stud snapped as I undid them to get to handbrake cable, so never put them back on. No ill effects.

Yep...many studs broken hence the reason I could drag them (2) out.

Fixed the Corsa handbrake. Nothing broken in the end. Had just jumped off mounts and seized a bit. Cleaned, greased and reassembled and adjusted and all is well. One happy Harry.

Speaking of the Corsa C.....our car has soaking wet carpets on the driver side floor (behind pedal area is perfectly dry)

Both scuttle drains cleared out the first time it happened.

Where is the water coming from????? :-\

Passenger side leak on this one!  only seems to be when facing uphill in the rain, also checked the drains etc last night

Electrical box cover seal:

Swapped, old seal virtually gone, most the screws rusty.
Whipped the battery tray out, and all good under there too.
the battery clamp nut may have, erm, stripped a bit though.  But a job for another day

Two new tyres on the front of the BMW. I suppose at least they aren't as expensive as the rears!  ::)

Washed the black Omega. Considered selling it for a brief moment.  :-X

Gave it its first decent journey since the manifold replacement to Oxford and back. No issues to report.

DTM - kept flicking the heating between HI and LO, will see if that helped when it cools down.

No coolant level warning with sensor shorted out, so it definitely needs a new expansion bottle.

Changed the gearbox oil on 'er Evoque, only taken it round the block but all seems well. Going to pressure wash the undertray before it goes back on so that's tomorrow morning's job down the local car wash. £2 spent vs trying to clean all the cr@p off my driveway - no contest.  ;D

Spotted a couple of minor oil leaks under there, one on the sump plug (which doesn't bother me) and one around the bottom of the bell housing, which does. Need to investigate further.  :-\

Got a code[P0220] for throttle position sensor/pedal sensor on the V70.Just got to figure out how to tell whether it's at the throttle body end or the pedal end.

Presumably ZF? Was it just a case of dropping and discarding sump, bolt new sump on, then chuck the oil in?  Looks on mine like the filler hole is a bit of a bitch due to space...

It is ZF, but the 9 speed, which is a fundamentally different setup to the 8/6 speeders. Iirc, on the 8/6 the filter is part of the transmission oil pan. On the 9 speed it's a kidney-shaped unit that lives fully inside the gearbox casing, so changing it is a fu€king mission.

Consequently I just changed the ATF. I even reused the plugs because I'm a cowboy. Also I'm planning on doing another change in 1000 or so miles as I think you only change about 50% of the fluid each time and I CBA to buy two sets of plugs. Filling mine was gone through the passenger side wheel Arch liner, didn't even have to remove it  :y

A while ago my dad did the ATF on his RS6 (6 speed ZF). To refill the fluid he used a garden sprayer with some 10mm copper pipe  with a 90degree bend on it shoved in the end of the rubber hose. So yeah, I suspect filling it will be a pita.

Test drove the Evoque today and reset the gearbox adaptions. Between that and the new fluid, gear changes have never been so good 👍

Thanks Viral_Jim for info. Yeah mine is the ancient 6 speed.  JLR suggest a special tool to remove the fill (allen type) plug, so guessing its proper tight in there ;D
