Lol, I am a modern man......I work on the units introdcued 30+ years ago and dont live in the past  [smiley=tongue.gif].

The units that make common sense and not some weird shite the old buggers of the Uk seem keen to kling onto  ;D ;D
So you work in litres per kilometer when calculating fuel consumption? :-/

liter per mile....as we dont have sensible road signs....the only imperial measure I use is miles and pints, and thats coz I dont have any choice!

I cant actually picture how far a mile is (and have not got a clue how many meters it is), a Km I can picture!

Thing is that metric has been taught as the main units in schools for 25-30 years now so we must be approaching the point where half the population is not imperial aware....so lets change!

It is also the main stay of industry and our clinging on to imperial wont help us on the global market!!

Trouble is mark......some metric measurements have no logic to them..........take beer for example.....

Stella 284ml.......this is fine as it is exactly half a pint.
300ml.....330ml......440ml.......what the f##k is that......had a Bud the other day 208ml......please.

250 ml ...is O.k ish......a quarter of a litre.....or approx a quarter of one and three quarter pints in old money......as Ken said earlier in this thread imperial is much more easy to understand. :y :y :y :y

A thing with metric measurement is a lack of a distinct unit between cm and meters. In imperial we have distinct units that people can visualise, eg the inch, the foot, the yard, then a bit of a break (uneless you count furlongs !) then the mile. I can visuallise most of these but in metric you have mm, which is near 1/16, cm which is near 1/2, then a big gap up to a meter which is a bit over a yard. There is no unit in the middle. Its hard to visualise a mile or km because there are no easy sub units like furlong or whatever.

Long live 304.8mm  :y

Well, it's real fun learning to glide. Horizontal speed in knots, Vertical speed in knots, feet per minute or metres per second depending on the aircraft. Horizontal distance in nautical miles or KM, vertical in feet. Speed in knots. Pressure in millibars. Weight in pounds or kilos selected seemingly at random. ::)

I think that's a USA thing because their pint is smaller at 16 fl oz instead of our 20 fl oz
