Well time has come to start removing parts from Elite estate to sell (bank balance is not good!)

Mr McB came round this morning and we got to work.

This is the car in its "before" state...

And this was it 90 minutes later! (Fin had to leave about 3pm and I contineud until 6pm (so tired forgot to take more pics!)

Still much to come off, so if you need something, drop me a PM and I'll see if I can assist.

But right now I have the following main bits for sale. You guys get first refusal before I list on ebay tomorrow evening.

Set of 3.0 cams in superb condition. See pics. £100 + £15 postage or collect (damn heavy).
Excellent upgrade for a 2.5 V6. Instant 17-20bhp!

Full (including doorcards and all 5 headrests) cream leather interior for an estate (rare!) Has come out of a 1996 car and is in excellent condition. Al electrics work as they should (drivers seat heats eventually). Being a 1996, no side airbags. Seats will be cleaned and treated with proper leather feed.
£125. Collection only.

Phoned the local scrap yard - and they gave me a tenner for it

We put the rear (bald) tyres back on it and dragged the car, with an engine hoist hooked to front cross member, down my rather long drive to the road where they lifted it by a crane onto the truck...not surprisingly the shell was quite light - the engine bay was empty too

Ive done a few since then ( 4 i think ) but none to that extent

Really are in beautiful condition (well the whole engine internals are, an example of what good maintenance brings).

Yes, I can confirm that these cams look like new! You simply will not find ones in better condition. Remember, laidback has maintained this car personally for a LONG time. It is only going off the road because of the rear end damage!

I personally drove this car a few times and that included yesterday before we started canabalising it. If Dave says the bits are good, he means perfect.

Don't miss these guys.

Right M-Tek have confirmed that the ECU will adapt with the 2.5 chip in it, so I guess I'll be taking those off your hands if I can?

I could probably lend a pair of hands and I've changed cams on other engines without damage..

A timing belt locking kit would be required, of course.

I was wondering if the belt had to come off, if I can borrow one Kevin I would love to take you up on that offer - I'll sort out some new gaskets, o-rings, sealant and some beers for you! You're not too far from me either I don't think..

how far are you stripping it back Dave??

like for example, Front Suspension components? (just idle curiosity at the mo...... MOT being done today)

also you know the cubbyhole thing to the right of the drivers right knee?? the catch on mine is broken.........
Front Radiator/Air Con Fans would also be welcome....

and the pipes around the HBV, (slight leak still there, MIGHT be a weeping pipe, )

Clips from the Scuttle would be nice

and maybe the alternator.... something on mine is starting to squeak , ( could be alternator bearings)

Belt does have to come off.. as do the cam sprockets and the camshaft oil seals, which will want replacing upon refiting.

They're not all that hard to fit, I'll be putting the cams back in my Elite over the next few days.. I'll take lots of pics and make a HOW2 if you like

Go on, buy them, you know you want to.... if you get desperately stuck fitting then you know where I am... however I reckon you'll do the job fine!

Dont fit a second ahnd alternator without replacing the bearings.....

If people want bits then get a list on here and we can get removing for you.....I have a list of bits for the project estate....

Well we stripped a lot of last night.....I removed most of teh useful interior bits.....door lock motors, ECU's, climate panels etc etc......door trims, looms and bits and bobs, Matchless popped the heads and cats off.......

The cams are wrapped and ready for a buyer.....

The one easily solvable (for a given value of easy) rust issue on mine is the passenger side front door, which has a bubble in the middle of it.

Mine's mini-facelfit Elite 98/99 "Diamond Black" (metallic black) ... what are the chances of a match?

I have now taken ownership of a 98 3.0 Elite saloon (mini facelift) that I am also going to strip. Once I have finished this one that is!
Please note though, Bose is taken, as is air intake pipe TheBoy wants and centre arm rest.

Please, if you want parts, PM me with your requests.

Cams are now provisionally sold to ClarCE.

I will catalogue and list everything by Saturday (lot of bits!).

Real shame as it was in pristine condition right up to the point the previous owner tried to demolish a stone wall with the 'A' pillar!!
