Last July in London the cost was £80 from Vx or £99 from an aircon specialist. I think that Vx prices are the same all year round while aircon specialists seem to raise the price in summer. Also, London prices are higher than the rest of the UK - so I will hazard a guess that at this time of year and away from London an aircon specialist will do this for around £60-£70?

It needs to be done properly though - remove old gas and dry system, then fill with new gas and oil by weight (not by pressure), and checking for leaks with UV light.

Having said that - why do you think you need a re-gas? If the aircon is not working, there could be other reasons, and if it is indeed due to lack of gas, then you should find out first if there is a leak that needs repairng before pumping new gas in. But as for your question, as said above it should be around £70eesh.

What about from Halfords? I've never used it but seen it on the shelf.

I tried it, but it tops-up the system based on pressure, not weight, so you don't get the correct amount in, and also if using it you can't vacate the old gas & debris first - so not recommened as substitute to proper re-gas.

Obviously!  ;) But at £20 if it revives your A/C after you've put it in your car it'll give you a clue as which road to go down. Take it to be regassed in a few months for £75ish or wind down your windows!  ;)  ;)

I used it in my last car over summer lasted the 3 weeks i needed it to (i knew the system had a small leak) when it was first used it it felt like i had it done properly blowing freezing cold when first used. I would definatly use it again.

However i relalise its not correct or proper and would not recommend it to anyone except myself for the reasons already stated
