Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Speaker help....
« on: 21 January 2008, 22:59:42 »
Hi all,

I knew when I got my car that the BOSE system had been ripped out and that the person who had the car before me had fitted his/her own head unit(after some wacky and messy wiring). So... bought a new head unit, sorted out what I needed to and it worked, bar one speaker, passenger side front.

Upon closer inspection the passenger side front speaker does work but there is only extreme high freq coming through, any idea's?

LOL... it came back.... and then stopped again!!

I drained the battery last week(music whilst I worked out in the garden) and had to recharge it.... this may have caused the problem in the first place. If it gets any worse I'll just disconnect the battery as suggested above.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / HIDS & Headlight Washers....

Hi all,

Bought an Elite a few weeks back and have just been reading another post about people wanting to buy aftersales hids or retrofitting some from a knackered elite. My question....

My car has just gone through it's MOT and it doesn't have the headlight washers (somebody obviously liked em before I bought the motor!!)....... so has anybody got any spare(obviously will pay for em) and are they easy to re-fit??

cheers

need more details

Does it sound like a metal whining or more of a whistle. If it's a whistle I would suspect the secondary Air compressor thingy (the real name escapes me), it can be disconnected as it usually just throws extra air into the exhaust if memory serves until the exhaust/engine warms up.

If it's a really loud shrilling screech, then I would suspect a pulley wheel, which needs sorting pretty darn quick, if it throws a belt it could cause severe problems.

So.... to recap.....

Both are easy LOL.

I gather it's an up on ramps job and lots of heat to loosen the bolts off, or is it a case of let my local garage sort it (he's cheap as chips bless him so may go that route).

OK, back box fitted and sorted today, no probs there, but the front, drivers side is still sounding like a tank and I have MOT next week. I'm led to believe that it is usually the engine->manifold gasket or the manifold->exhaust gasket that is usually the problem.

So.... is it an easy repair? (and how)

Thanks in advance

I'm sort of hoping they'll offer a cash settlement to be fair as I was thinking the same as shyboy.

Thanks chaps, will have a looksee in the morning and fingers crossed it won't be fubar.

On a side note it looks as if the car will be going in to the stealers to get the work done next week or the week after. If they don't want to pay for the work to be done (£1300 quids worth) then I'll see what settlement they offer and then go part hunting.

Is changing the lens an easy(ish) job? If not there are replacement headlight units on fleabay for around £60 (that's without the motors etc)
