Ok... So how many ale drinkers? Might be able to get a poly in time :-/ 
I brought one to the last meet and, sadly, didn't really have enough time to settle to make a decent pint. 
That said, will be there on the Thursday this time round. Enough time to settle from thursday to saturday evening, d'you think?
I beg to differ. The "torque" went down rather nicely with me.
You can normally get either "bright" or "sedimented" beer by the polypin / cask. Bright is put in the container pretty much as it comes out of the pump, so doesn't need a great deal of time to settle. It's probably drinkable pretty much immediately although may be a little cloudy until it's had a couple of hours to sit. The downside is that it only remains drinkable for a couple of days.
Sedimented beer is what goes into the casks that the pubs take. It contains yeast and should still be undergoing its' secondary fermentation. This keeps the beer more lively as you have a source of CO
2 stopping it going flat. Once set up to serve, it needs to stand for 24-48 hours, preferably more, before being drinkable to allow the yeast to settle to the bottom. The advantage is that it is drinkable for probably a week or two.
Given that it's not likely to touch the sides on arrival, bright would probably be most appropriate for a meet. For best results seek out a local brewery and get a polypin of bright on arrival perhaps?
