Burning my [s]ass[/s] rear off  :o
« on: 29 October 2007, 19:47:43 »

My driver seat heating works, a bit too well, i think that there is a problem as with the setting on number 1 it is burning my butt off.

The passenger side works better from 1 to 5, is there a thermostat? i am thinking that I may swap the driver and passenger switches to see if it makes a difference?  Are these easy to remove? if not the switches, what else could I check.  I don't fancy losing my heated seat this close to winter  :(

the heater pad may be starting to play up.

i believe if you have a fabric interior they are replacable seperately, the leather ones are stiched to the material and come integral to the material.

hope that helps

Can you by a heated pad from Vx.

Is there a part no?

Can you take a pad out of a cloth seat and stitch it into a leather seat.

That multi position switch is the one thing i'd love to retro fit to a pre-facelift as the seats are just too warm for me.

I like '1' in her car.

The leather seats have the heaters sewn into the covers, the stat is loose and locates within the foam pads on the seat itself.

On the drivers seat the thermostat unit is located within the foam pad that runs parallel to your left leg. That is what is causing your problem, it's not working properly causing the heater to run at full pelt all the time, regardless of the position you set, 1-5.

Until you get the stat or seat cover replaced, i would immediately stop using it as it poses a SERIOUS fire risk! I can't stress this enough.

I've replaced my entire leather cover with a new one from VX, for the exact same reason as you. Seeing the burn marks/charring on the old cover when i removed it was pretty scary.  :o

Cheers Kev, note taken, stop using  :(

I seen a tutorial on replacing pads (my seats are cloth) or I might keep my eyes out for a second hand seat with working pad!
