Lost rear side lights and brake lights
« on: 02 September 2008, 18:31:35 »

Hello chaps,

My rear side lights and brake lights dont work, the high level light does though.

there is no power up the loom for the brake or side lights when checking behide the rear seat.

There is a live for the tow bar side lights though the brake light in that loom is not working.

Any idea's chaps?

All fuses and bulbs are fine

Fuel gauge is fine

Rear fogs and indicators work.

I've checked the loom running down the N/S of the car - there is power for the side lights in towing bar loom wires but on the grey/red and grey/black for the side lights.

The front lights work fine,

The high level light is fine as well

Doing my head in now :(

I know I can "repair" by using the feed for the high level light and the side lights to the tow bar but I would rarther fix the problem it's self

Lost head lights as well...

Could it be the blub check unit that has died?

On the Supra's when the blub check unit goes on them you lose all the lights it checks..

What does not make sense is that the high elvel light still works!

Which head lights have you lost, side, dipped or full (or all!)

So, rear brake lights are out
Rear tail lights
Rear fogs are ok.
Number plate lights?
Reversing lights?

Rear side lights - Dead - via check control
Rear brake lights - Dead - via check control
Rear Fogs - Working - not via check control
High level brake - Working - not via check control
Reversing lights - Working - not via chek control
Front side lights - Working - not via check control
Full beam - Working - not via check control
Front fogs - Working - not via check control
Front head lights - Dead - via check control
Number plate light - Dead - not via check control

SO looks like it could be the check control moduel  (i suspect the number plate bulb has failed and not been noticed!)

Its behind the glove box....and this is the first one I have ever heard of causing trouble!

You could ask JueV6 to bring you the one fromthe MV6 he is breaking!

ahhh

when my heater matrix blew - it gushed water up the back of the glove box... but this was about 3 months ago.

Right - how do I get the glove box out - taken 2 screaws out from the front outer edge but its still solid
