General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 24 May 2024, 18:44:12 »The bit that went up my crack went crispy and snappedI misread that and now I can see Tigger Lap dancing. Nooooooooo............When do you restart the limbo dancing Tig? Sounds a daunting procedure you've had there, hope you're rocking again soon.
Limbo dancing? Christ I need to get walking properly first!
Although I'm doing a mile a day on my exercise bike.
Lend him your thong.

General Car Chat / Re: So what have you done to your car today?
« on: 24 May 2024, 07:07:03 »Checked both cars over and started them up for the first time after having both my hips resurfaced five weeks ago today.I missed this post, Tigger. That's quite a big deal with your hips, I hope you are back to your athletic self very soon.
The V70 started first time, but the Mondeo's battery was flat and as I didn't think was a good idea to go hauling batteries out of cars at the moment while on crutches, I jump started it off the V70 and left it running on the drive for half an hour or so. It took a bit of cranking to get it started though.
Anyway, it should have put enough charge into battery to get it going next week when I can officially drive again.

Omega General Help / Re: Ticking sound
« on: 23 May 2024, 19:32:42 »You know I love you reallyJust as well, really...... tosserWrist pin retainer and I suspect a chunk of piston, that circlip is not working its way past the piston without damage and the little end pin will be rubbing on the bore scoring it. Strip down time.
Although this doesn’t change the outcome of a strip down, if memory serves me correctly, the V6 piston Gudgeon Pin clip can drop out and get past the piston with no damage as the piston doesn’t have a full skirt. It is cut away for the pin and clip on the sides and as the top ring, middle ring and oil ring are above the gudgeon pin, it has nothing to stop it falling downwards. The full skirt IS on the con rod stroke sides. As said above though, the un-restrained pin will do some damage. I may be wrong and stand to be corrected without being offended.
As I say, it changes nothing as the clip needs replacing to stop the pin moving, so a strip down/rebuild is inevitable.
Not what you need to hear I know.
Well, within reason.

« on: 23 May 2024, 16:44:39 »It leaves you deadNet immigration figures out today of 685,000.A 10% drop from the year before:
Net migration to UK fell 10% last year, ONS says https://www.bbc.com/news/articles/ce99y7l741po
Adding context to a big scary number? It will never catch on. Nobody wants to know that 685,000 in a population of 68million is a terrifying 1%....
So in thirty, forty, or fifty years where does that leave us?.........bearing in mind where we already are regarding cultural change especially in our 3 largest cities London, Birmingham, and Manchester.

« on: 23 May 2024, 15:39:54 »With an annual mileage of......?The Mondeo's renewal has come in.
Last year: £171.65
This year: £257.01
An increase of £85.36, just shy of 50%!
That sounds quite high for a man of advanced year from rural Darzett driving something as mundane as a Mondeo.
Twice what I pay for my classic Vauxhall.

I'm guessing the 1922 committee had almost enough letters of intent to kick him out. Ask Graham Brady.
