I hate leather seats, sweaty bum and back
Many of the cars for sale have them, so 2 questions;

How simple is it to change to cloth?
How readily available are cloth seats?

I currently have an eye on an MV6 with cloth and a TD with cloth but both are older cars, though low miles, and the MV6 is about mint. However many of the more upmarket Migs for sale in our section and on ebay have leather, just part of my thinking.....

Thing to bear in mind is whether side airbags ar fitted to the car or not.  Its not so straightforward to swap out seats between airbag/non airbag models, as I understand things.

Right, thanks for that, so assuming a swap is not the way to go so do we need the same year cars or is it best to forget the idea of a swap/change...

I can't see a problem swapping if you're swapping from similar year cars of the same spec. Surely a velour seat is electrically the same as a leather seat  :-/

I have an '01 MV6 coming up for sale soon.

it has cloth, but I'm not above changing to leather if you find a car that meets all of your needs apart fron having leather.

obviously, the leather that you come up with would have to come from an MV6 and have side airbags.

oh yes, and I'm local to you, too.

he can now go out and buy a car with leather, knowing that if it has got leather, then I'll swap my cloth for his leather.

so I end up with a car with leather seats and he ends up with a car with cloth seats.

Ive been a leather disliker too...

but compromised on my new car.

Gotta say so far I am finding them comfier and more suportive.

How they will be in the very hot / cold obviously remains to be seen.

There's the key.

Non-MV6 leather provides no support at all IMHO.

He'd be better off selling the leather for £150+ and buying cloth for £30 to £50

I dislike full leather seats aswell. Wifes last car (Volvo) had them and whilst it was a fantastic car we sold it partly because of the seats.
We have comprimised slightly with her new Astra it has half leather seats and they seem to be acceptable.

I will not buy another car with full leather ever again.

It would have to be vey nice to justify £150 imo. About £100 seems to be the going rate for a decent leather interior imo. I got one for a lot less than that about 6 months ago, and have seen them on ebay for as little as £50 in decent nick.

Each to their own TBH... I like leather seats but they must be heated for the winter!

MV6 leather is very supportive but I find my Elite Leather OK... I can (and do quite frequently) do 600+ miles in a day and still be comfortable

Given the choice its leather every time for me. Im pig sick that I put a nice leather interior in my old Mig just before I sold it, and have now bought another one with cloth in. When funds allow I will be on the lookout for another set of leather to put in this one.

My Elite had Sports leather front seats fitted from new.When I first got the car I hated the leather as I found it very firm and when the first winter came and I found out the heater in the drivers seat had failed I used to loath going out for daily commute every winters morning.
This gradually became less of a concern and after driving from home to the Dordogne 2 years ago in a day I came to appreciate just how comfy and supportive they were.
I can now say that I would not replace my leather sports seats,although have never driven another Elite with standard leather fitted.Must say though I am actively considering getting the heaters renewed for this winter.
