Will 15" steelies fit...
« on: 20 June 2011, 11:10:43 »

As title, has anyone tried fitting 15" steel wheels to an Omega that would usually have 17" alloys fitted? Do they fit over the brake discs/calipers?

Just needed to move car around while alloys are elsewhere, won't even be going on the road!  :y

Why didn't I think of that!!  ::)

Can I just ask, why do they have to be omega 15's? Is the wheel spacing not the same on all Vxl 5 stud cars?

I'm not worried if the offset is different, because I won't be using the car on the road, just moving it around my drive!  :y

IIRC the offset will affect the way it sits over the calipers, so different et has a different cross section profile and may just may foul on the calipers. If your looking for cheap steelies, look for carlton ones as well, they are the same.

I know Vectra steelies fit fine, once you've removed the brake caliper. ::)

am after a set of alloy's for my 3.2v6 omega as have buckled current ones. i am in bathgate in west lothian,scotland but am prepared to travel if the right looking set of wheels are available so if anyone has/know's of a set then drop me some mail please.

am not bothered too much about aftermarket alloys,omega ones will do as have got devil alloys on at the moment & being low profile tyres the pot-holes have claimed another victim!  :'(

When I took my alloys off to be refurbished, I left my miggy sat on steel wheels. I just asked the local scrappie to put me four vauxhall five-stud wheels aside - cost me 20 quid if I remember correctly, including four inflated, but VERY bald tyres.
i've still got them, if you want them (FOC)? (might be a bit far to collect from Yorkshire)

Actually, forget that - I had to use a 10mm wheel spacer to fit them.   :-[

If you still have to wheel spacers as well, it might be worth me organising a courier!  :y
