I'm just thinking I'd prefer a facelift to an early model. I reckon it would cut more of a dash in my office car park, the later cars seem to have more presence.

Was the facelift fitted with the 3.0 and a slushbox? Must be a slushbox.

You'll struggle to find an Elite, be it Pre Facelift or Facelift with a Manual Tranny.

They (nearly) all have the lazybox you demand  :y

EDIT:  The Facelift model has a lovely arse, but the front looks like it needs a slap. IMO, obviously.

For ages I preferred the pre facelift syling, and either were always going to outdo the Scorpio on looks, but of lat I much prefer the facelift.

I've had my fill of clutch pedals, as I'm sure you can appreciate, doing this many miles makes changing gear a bloody pain.

Also, what's the consensus on estates? Mostly hammered? I don't need an estate but if there's no major difference I'll have one.

I had a W reg 2.6 Elite on LPG some years ago. It was very reliable on gas - it developed other electrical problems due to seat heted elements intermittently failing . It went to France and back from Liverpool umpteen times and was excellent -just make sure gas installation is proper and certificated.
Good luck in your quest.

Because of the Chunnel I'll be avoiding gas. The 2.6 Elite sounds good, wasn't aware that they did a 2.6 Elite.

Its about 600 miles from my place in the UK to my place in France. Currently costs me around £80 in my C2, so I'd expect an Omega to do it for around £120 in a V6 Omega. That'd be perfectly acceptable and still leaves space in my expenses for flooring it.

I created a quick guide to the facelift's here with some basic engine and trim info;

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/YaBB.pl?num=1266867411

It only deals with the DBW engines, so the 2.2, DTI, 2.6 and 3.2
