The quality of the finish will be directly proportional to the number of parts he removes and inversely proportional to the amount of masking tape used!

if a perfect paint is desired, depending on the temperature you must stop and wait some days after every 2-3 layers of coat..and if necessary sand the imperfections on the paint job.. 12-16 layers of paint and another 10-12 layers of lack will result with a  really impressive job if done properly .. But deffo very expensive.. and I dont count the days necessary to correct the surface and dismantling process..

Lol, this is just outside London, you would be lucky to get primer on it let alone more than one top coat  ;D

My brother sprays cars for a living and does quite well at it.  Now forced to apply primer with a roller (not kidding....) and water soluable paint rather than by traditional methods.

End result is still good and dependant on the effort applied, but quantity of paint/layers does work best.

If Mr DD's car is in a commercial, fast flow paintshop, I bet it also got the roller and emulsion treatment!

I once earned my living as a Panel Beater/ Paint Srayer and I find your post rather disturbing mate!

How the hell can you apply paint to a car with a roller?

I hope this is a wind up.

100% not a wind up.  Its COSSH (or however its spelt) gone mad.  All paints etc are now water based.....

Fair do's mate, but I cannot see how you can roller paint onto a car with any chance of a decent finish,

I've been out of the Trade for 20 years, but this sounds like madness to me !!

To be fair, its the primer and high built before its taken back.  Top coat and clear is sprayed....

Yep, base coats are roller applied.

This method is also used on the railway!
