Sounds like a loud beep beep beep beep ect

Normally on facelifts.......the horn goes off (and that is a lot louder than a loud beep!!) if intrusion is detected.
Siren goes off if battery is detected as being disconnected.

So loud beeping noise sounds like to me, knackered power sounder..........they usually beep quietly if internal battery pack is knackered.........but maybe theres summat wrong with it.

Unless your description of a loud beep is infact the horn sounding  :-/

I had this problem once and I cured it by disconecting the battery usual way and cleaned terminals and battery connectors, I reconnected the battery the usual way and it was fine after that (it may be just luck, but it may help you out)   :-?

That may explain why, when both mine and the wifes cars had the same problem, changing the batteries solved the problem on both occasions.

My battery was definately knackered as it kept running flat. The wife's, on the other hand, is still holding it's charge in the garage 4 months after changing it.

Got to be worth cleaning the terminals Martin to see if this makes any difference.

I have the same problem, but is a rear window sensor problem (estate). It goes off only at night, from 1 to 5 am. It must be low temperature or high humidity.
Maybe you can disconnect all sensors and check if it’ll go off next night. If yes, then it's not a sensor problem.

Tho if Martin replaced the batteries in the power sounder last year....id rule the batteries out.......

To me..it suggests its detecting low car battery voltage....and hence thinks the car battery has been disconnected......which obviously isnt true if the car will start in the morning....sooooo sounds poss theres a bad connection somewhere as someone else suggested.....and overnight the bad connection means the voltage drops to a point where the power sounder thinks the battery has been disconnected.........just an idea and i think worth checking the connections

That doesn't match my experience Dave. My battery was knackered but it kept enough charge to start the car every day. It was only after it had been used when the engine was not running for any period of time that it ran flat. I know what you're thinking but I mean, pumping up tyres with a compressor, leaving the caravan on the back with the fridge running for 20 minutes or other such things.

The alarm would go off most nights between 0200 and 0400 much to mine and my neighbours annoyance. The last straw was when we had hitched up the caravan for a short break last Easter when the car just wouldn't start. Called out the AA and he told us that the battery was knackered. I wasn't going to buy one off him so off we went to Bude for our break. I never locked the car overnight for the few days we were there. When we returned, and I started locking the car again at night, the alarm started going off again.

I eventually bought a new battery from Halfords, as I didn't want to caught out again and, lo and behold, the alarm stopped going off at night.

I had no idea that changing the battery would fix the rogue alarm problem but, when the same thing started happening to the wife's Astra, I changed the battery in her car and acheived the same result.
