Hello

1. Original front shock leaking after 260 000 km, such bad quality. Riding height is 665 from front arc, Normal worn wheels 225/55/16. Is this a correct height or should I change springs at the same time. New shocks seem to be gas pressure type, they may help a bit in height.  Car is 2001 V6, saloon.

2. Do we have instructions for front struts change, where to start, should I replace the corroded bolts in bottom end. I bought also the top bearings as I was told to change them at the same time. Is Camber and Caster adjusted from bottom or top. Perhaps have to go to four wheel adjustment anyway after change of these shocks.

Any comments pics etc most welcome.

Omega General Help / Gas smell outside the car, Y26SE
« on: 24 November 2017, 05:02:25 »
Hello, It's Friday!

...and gasoline smell in my garage. Omega 2001 V6 is really smelling now. Pipes under bonnet are dry, they go through inner wing (right side) down and then  somewhere. I cannot lift the car easily in garage. Any potential suggestions where to start. I think it is coming from back. Tank seemed to be made of plastic. I has driven with this car almost 200 000 km, about 240 000 totally behind. I never changed gas filter (just for info). Any help welcome as we have snow and floor is wet so it is difficult to see any leakage.

Omega General Help / Air Hose Kit AK-29 to Rear Shocks
« on: 13 October 2017, 04:30:46 »
Hello all

Got this
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Monroe-Adaptor-Air-Installation-kit-part-AK-10-BE-17-06-00-03-/391652061240

together with rear air shocks when upgrading to adjustable riding height.

Still missing this AK29 to get the connectors to shock end, too:

Cannot find it in Europe?? Should be GM spare for Chevrolet, Cadillac etc. Can you help where to buy those connectors including 1/8" plastic hoses.

Hello all

When I start my V6 I hear something which I do not like. With Idling speed about 600 rpm I hear three sharp noises on regularly basis. The noises last together about 0.5 second and then there is silence about 0.5 second, during next 0.5 second I hear again these three noises etc. Just calculated that crank sprocket has 23 teeth and timing belt has about 10 times more teeth so while crank is rotating 10 rounds/second the timing belt is rotating one round/second.

But what it can be? If something in tooth side I should hear something 5 times/second and without brake. If something in back side I perhaps heard something three times/sec (without brake). When engine gets warm the sound disappears. That happens every day.

I changed timing belt + other parts about 500 km ago. During first wekks I did not hear this noise. Perhaps better to open cam cover and see. Any ideas??

Omega General Help / Torque Values
« on: 20 August 2017, 17:22:49 »
Just completed my timing belt change some days ago. Good to have all torque values collected to one place

http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90519.0

One thing confused me:

"Base plate, toothed belt tension roller and toothed belt guide roller to cylinder head   40" What does this mean?

So I found from Autodata that:

Base Plate to Cylinder Head 40 Nm
Upper and Lower Guiding Rolls 40 Nm
Tension Roller 20 Nm

Values for Y26SE

Although using only 50-75 kg "noseweight" three person in car - one in the rear seat - and something in the boot the riding height in rear reduces a lot. Rear springs are pretty new and a bit stronger than original, shock absorbers are new original gas pressure ones but not adjustable. Car is 2001 Saloon Elegance with V6.

What would be the best way to get adjustable riding height to the rear axle? Found some solutions inside springs or adjustable air pressure absorbers but would like to hear experience/recommendation to solve the problem. Perhaps stronger springs are not more comfortable when driving alone without extra load.

Started to change my timing belt etc. as earlier. Now 240 000 km behind so this is the fourth time. Do you think that we should sometimes change the crank sprocket as well, does it wear??

If yes then perhaps the front oil seal should be changed as well.

Actually no leakages found from crank or cam oil seals (front). Is any preventative work recommended or do I just change timing belt (+idlers, tensioner, water pump) as earlier and just drive the next 60k?

Omega General Help / Y26SE, AR25 and Mobile Home 1300kg
« on: 06 June 2017, 19:19:26 »
Hello
Just bought a Mobile Home (Caravan) having total weight 1300 kg. Is it OK to use D-position in Auto box which allow to lock the turbine or prevent the locking by using e.g. position 3 or S-mode. Heard that locking turbine can be a problem with heavy caravan.

Omega Electrical and Audio Help / Line Out from Delco CDR2005
« on: 19 January 2017, 09:09:53 »
Hello

I would like to connect a better amplifier (and speakers as well) to Delco CDR2005. As there is output for speakers only I would like to ask whether someone has built Line Out connector after pre-amp of this unit. Any suggestions are welcome.

Omega General Help / Outs. Temp. (in display) Shows: F °C
« on: 18 January 2017, 08:28:24 »
Hello

This morning realized that no temp info available anymore. Where usually seen e.g. "15 °C" I can just see "F     °C".

So, perhaps sensor broken?

1. Where can I find it under bonnet, did not see it in maintenance section?
2. Do I have to change it (soon) I mean does it affect ECU or heating system?

Thanks in Advance.

Omega General Help / Is There a Cooling System for the Radio???
« on: 04 January 2017, 07:01:17 »
Hello

As now installing this

http://www.instructables.com/id/MP3-input-for-CDR2005-Radio-and-CD-unit/

I am presently  driving without radio. I found I rubber hose (perhaps diameter 20) in the radio location inside dash blowing cold air although the heater is blowing hot. Is there really a cooler for radio or should this rubber hose be installed somewhere else.

Hello

Remember this issue have been discussed here earlier but cannot find it. Only cold air is available from the nozzle located between backrests of front seat, strange. Other nozzles offer very hot air. Where to start, where is the mechanism? Please help.
