Noticed recently EuroCarParts stocking "Brembo" brake pads, only a couple of quid more than Pagid and similar in price to Bosch.

Anyone tried them?

I noticed my front pads were getting low when I had a pair of ditchfinders fitted last week. I asked them to replace while they were doing a service next week. I think they recommend acme super stop or something similar.

I'm surprised a 1.4 Astra even needs brakes, don't you just take your foot off the go pedal?

I would not buy them from ECP.  I have serious concerns about their stock - either coming from dubious sources, or getting it made exclusively for them to be shit.

For brakes, I'd be more concerned than normal...   ...and the Pagid pads sold by ECP are shockingly bad.  Got some on the bus as a quick fix, a vehicle that couldn't pull the skin off a rice pudding, and I'm seriously considering fishing out the old ones from the bin and refitting.  The plastic tyres have more bite than the pads, that's why I squealed the tyres on it the other day, I just couldn't slow it up for a roundabout.


The likes of CAF aren't far from you, they can be competitive if you negiotiate.

Pagid brake pads are perfectly alright for us normal drivers. They do tend to fade when being asked to go from 80 to zero to 80 to zero to 80 to zero to 80 to zero.......

I repeat, this is the Battlebus.  It takes it about 20 mins to get to 80mph....

Tried CAF, considerably more than ECP. Even with CAF discount code, I know I paid over odds for the oil. Around £42 for 5L of 5w30 Fully Synth. But wanted it serviced while I had spare time

Got ECP Pagid discs/pads on the front/rear of the Omega. Rear just over 2 years, Front just over 1 year.. No issues with them apart from brake dust but with the coating I have on the wheels a blast with the hose washes that away.

Maybe you had a few bad batches from ECP

No, with discounts. ECP came at £49, CAF were £60 something with all discounts applied.

I've been happy with ECP, I can walk to one its that close! Had Pagid on 3.2 for a while now, all good. I'll prob get these brembos for the rest of the VW, give them a whirl. Sure they will be fine for my driving style.

For the Alhambra (admittedly a little older than your CC!) I just keep a search on Ebay with the genuine part numbers, occasionally there will be genuine parts come up from dealers clearing stock. 

Nothing wrong with keeping some items in stock!

Ive a set of the Brembo on the rear from ECP....still bedding in reallly, but no worries at present

Have stopped using CAF,by not taking my cars to my son's place in Staines as they rely on them heavily,most items fitted to my cars have suffered early failure which gives a clue to CAF's quality standard.Incidently they have changed hands and are now called Andrew Page Ltd.

I suspect they will go the way of Brown Bros/Unipart if they don't start competing properly with ECP.

Andrew page, do compete with ecp, on price, and supply a lot of the same parts.
It's survival of the fittest at the moment in the parts trade business, lots of smaller trades are being driven out by ecp and Andrew page.

I have found some AP bits on discount card competitive, but brakes, AC compressors etc. ECP (trade price) has been cheaper, to me anyway. Worth checking both IMO.
