Sometimes the wet blanket of defeat wraps itself around you and says " just give up I've won."
Took Omega for it's NCT test ( MOT) two weeks ago , failed on high idle .
I couldn't understand it as it has done 280m since last test .
Anyway , went through it checking exhaust , replaced plugs /airfilter even though they were new , replaced maf with a new spare I had ,had changed oil and filter and then tipped a bottle of Catclean into the low level of fuel in tank.
€54 down drain for test and another €28 paid up front for the retest + the parts .
So confident was I that I taxed the car for three months (€200 ) and then booked the retest for today .
Took it out last night to run it at high revs to get the Catclean to work .
All went well with it driving beautifully until one mile from home when it stuttered nearly cutting out and the eml came on .
Put the spare gallon of fuel into tank to reduce the concentration of mix in there and she started ,albeit with eml on , and drove home .
Tested it and codes for cam sensor ,crank sensor and ignition coil primary/secondary circuit ''''ed ..
Cleared codes but cam sensor came back on and would not clear. Crank sensor was renewed less than 150 miles ago.( bitch of a job on the x20xev )
Spent the morning chasing a cam sensor with zero luck , all the suppliers ( many ) had it NLA even the MD had it NLA although they wanted €244 for it if they had one .......
Lost my NCT slot and forfeited the charge .
So there we are,not a cam sensor available in IE, dead car in garage fully taxed and insured . I had to reduce myself to buying one from Amazon with the wait for it to arrive .
Spending too much money on it now for the minsicule miles I am doing in it so it looks like the end of the road with me is nigh after 22 years .
