Title: Gnome in hospital
Post by: CaptainZok on 04 May 2012, 23:04:47
Tonygnome is in Hospital at the moment.
Got knocked off his bike earlier this evening, dislocated knee and broken bones in his foot.
He's being operated on now and we'll know more in a few hours.
Here's hoping it's good news.

Well he's had his op, still rather dopey but he's spoken to Carol. We didn't get much more than they had put his knee back in.
No doubt we'll get more sense from him in the morning.
Thanks for your kind thoughts everybody.

Hope you feel better soon Tony x :y

Hopefully this won't put you off motorbikes for too long Tony. Most people who ride bikes will have either fallen off or being knocked off at some point, carrying their battle scars to prove it.
I have thought for years that anyone wanting to use the roads should first ride a motorbike/scooter for twelve months before being allowed to get behind the wheel of a car. I honestly think this would make people more aware of motorcyclists.
I am not however saying that accidents are all car drivers fault.

Our generation, we had to do that for financial reasons. Doesn't seem so common now.  I think being a motorcyclist gives you far more awareness of things going on around you, and potential upcoming dangers.

As you say, not always a car's fault - bikers are more than capable of falling off without help.

Thanks again for all the good wishes everyone, the latest news is he has to have another op on tuesday to sort out his knee ligaments.
The one footballers do he said. Other than that he's in good spirits now he has his phone and a few films to watch on it when he's not texting or on msn or facebook and he says it's like being in a five star hotel as he's being waited on hand and foot.

Well they've sent him home in a leg brace. Has to go back the 4th of June for his knee op. It's only taken 3 days from having the scan to being sent home so as ever with the NHS speed isn't of the essence.
