Just been to tescos and its closed. same as sainsburys.due to the laws in Britain yet all the foreign shops are still open. on law for them or what???
-
Supermarkets/superstores only allowed to trade for 6 hours on a Sunday, now if a person of a certain religion/colour/nationality owned Tescos or the like...................................................... ::)
-
Doesn't the law say something about shop size & opening hours :-\
-
Who gives a toss...really? ;D
-
Its all done square foot. anything above 4000sqft can only trade for 6hrs between 10 and 5 i think.
-
280 m2 (3,014 sq ft) ;)
Exemptions from the law regarding "large" shops/stores include
Airport shops
Chemists
Goods from exhibitions stalls
Farm shops that sell their own produce (incl fishmongers)
Petrol filling stations
Railway stations
Motorway service stations were excluded from the act

I remember when a Presto was opened in Blyth, Northumberland when I was a mere boy (that was along time ago) :-X
It was allowed to open on Saturday :o :o
The locals were confused for months ;D ;D ;D
-
I thought Tesco's was a jewish own'd company.
-
Nope, its a PLC and therefore its ownership (to some extent at least) changes hour by hour, day by day.Even if it was Jewish owned, its shops would still be subject to Sunday trading laws.
-
could go back to old days when sunday closed all day.
-
I would vote for that.A day of rest from bloody shops. :y
Most of the country now seems to lack the imagination to do anything more than spend the weekend wandering around DIY shops and garden centres, very sad indeed. ::)
-
On Sundays I don't go near a shop, it's not compulsory.
-
I go to a shop to buy a paper evry morning.Apart from that I rarely go near them from one month to the next. I hate shops. ;D
