bit confused

Just been to tescos and its closed. same as sainsburys.due to the laws in Britain yet all the foreign shops are still open. on law for them or what???

Supermarkets/superstores only allowed to trade for 6 hours on a Sunday, now if a person of a certain religion/colour/nationality owned Tescos or the like...................................................... ::)

Its all done square foot. anything above 4000sqft can only trade for 6hrs between 10 and 5 i think.

Exemptions from the law regarding "large" shops/stores include
Airport shops
Chemists
Goods from exhibitions stalls
Farm shops that sell their own produce (incl fishmongers)
Petrol filling stations
Railway stations
Motorway service stations were excluded from the act

Iirc, there was a time when no shops where open at all on Sunday...no?

No restrictions on the shops Sunday hours up here. It's just another trading day, big shop or small.  :)
