What did the 1989 ZX10 fail on?

			-
I've given it the benefit of doubt,  and not counted the things that you should have known about already such as tyres and lights :y

			-
For the record, no air freshener on the Kwaka, before any smartass tries to upset me ::)

Can't be tyres, you never use it  ;D
As its a choice of fixing it, suggests it not quick fix like chain.
Going to go with Frame or Suspension

Seized rear suspension linkage, notchy steering head bearings, ans a few minors ?
Took mine for its test a few weeks ago.Usual tester (very sensible and noice bloke)was in a meeting, so his colleague (a well known nob) tested it.
He failed it on headlight aim slightly too high.Other bloke would have had a word and told me to adjust it down a tad when I got home, but not him.
Said he would give me a pass if I could sort it in five minutes, and loaned me a screwdriver.
I proceeded to undo all the plastic panels etc.prise them out of the way, find the correct adjuster and adjust aim,all in a blind panic.Just as he decided he was happy with the aim,I turned the bars slightly only to be greeted with a loud crack and see half my screen and the adjacent part of the top fairing (which I had previously plastic welded back into place) fly across the workshop.Everything was pressing on everything else and the strain got too much for the screen when I turned the bars.I was not fookin happy, not happy at all. >:(

Id guess fork seals and possibly headstock bearing or swing arm bearing/s :-\
ZX10 , that would be a classic now then , if its got the original exhausts maybe a hole in it  ;D

If you need one on a bike, you've got serious issues. :-X
Ah.. Mrs. KW says we need one in the Westfield on occasions. :-[

On a a bike as elderly as TB's ZX10, I'd go for rear suspension failure. :)
P.S..Did you change the wicks in the lights. ;D ;)

Fork seals, gummed up calipers and rear shock linkage.

			-
Go on then....how many miles has it done in the last 3 years?
treble figures?

Doubt it, barely did 2 figures between one MOT  ;D
Think i've done more in a week on the GS that he has in 5 years  ;D

Worn rear suspension linkage, this is like Omega breathers and needs to be greased one a year.
Leaking fork seals.
Seized caliper pistons, another Kawasaki and also Yamaha favourite.
An finally the biggest reason: Furry dice hung from each mirror.  ;D ;D ;D ;D

Yes, errr, well, indeed, yes, uhmmmm ::)
This bike is seriously under maintained  :-[, it only ever gets fluid changes, and they aren't that common (time wise)  :-[
This is partly because I have no idea what I'm doing, and partly because the amount of space in my garage to be able to get around it is usually full of Omega bits  :-[

				Poll closed.
The answer was: Steering.
It failed on notchy steering...  ...which has taken me ages to find, and even now, I'm not 100% convinced - with front wheel raised, pressing down on handlebars, a very faint notchiness around striaght ahead can be felt. In my mind, this would be the upper bearing, not the lower which MOTer said  :-\
