Deleted, as I I bet it was an attempt to get around our rules regarding for sale threads.

Oh right, no attempt to get around anything if I'm honest, I was just looking at getting an honest value, who better than omega enthusiasts? I was and still am going to eBay it and maybe also use piston heads. Sorry if it was thought of that way.

needing 250 posts before you can list an Omega item for sale here is a bit OTT IMHO.

In fact it sort of encourages pointless posts, or one post split over two ;)

But the rules have been put in place to try and offer some protection from rogue traders who sign up just to sell and some of which have, historically, not delivered the goods and run away with the money!

Besides, it's a free forum and not a sales site... There are plenty of those about :y

It's been put like that due to people just joining to sell & make money. That's not what OOF is for ;)

People also have sent money in good faith, but never received items.

It's there to protect members, if people get involved 250 posts is nothing :)

I agree with the principle its just that 250 posts is a lot.  I have only managed 60 in 6 months and I feel I am quite active.  I would think 50 or 100 at most would be a sensible limit to stop one-off sellers.  After all who is going to send out 50 posts just to sell something when they can go to ebay and get more money for it.

And don't forget that would be 50 proper posts they cannot just send in 50 'hellos' and get away with it.  Can they?

And that makes 63 for me. :y

You'll be surprised how easy it is to get to 250 posts ;)

On one of my (all too frequent >:() cullings of post count I've managed to get back to 250 within a week/10 days just by joining in the discussions and having a laugh :y :y

You'd be surprised. Its happened more than once, as it was once 50 posts.

Pointless posts often get deleted ;)

Yup, deleted.

For a value, I'd recommend Glasses or similar, or spend a week watching what others go for

There are 2 on eBay below a grand. None with the same brand new parts as mine, none with problems, none with 270k. All I was asking was enthusiasts honest opinions.

Look at it the other way... The same question gets asked on a regular occurrence and gets a little boring for some of the longer standing members. But, as per the guidelines, if a thread looks even remotely like a "I'm selling my car" thread in the wrong area it gets nuked ;)

TBH, this is the worst place to get a valuation ;)

270K?  It's worth about £200 scrap. Take the parts off.

I really must drive a DTi sometime, that's a great price. Some people spend that each month, on lease/loan.

It was originally £600 but it's showing 134,000 miles and I found out it had 90,000 miles wiped off the clock in 2007 so I got £100 back. When I was fitting leather I found £30 in change under the seat :) The 2.2 Wheesel is quicker than a 2.2 petrol but I must admit I have only driven a 2.2 petrol auto ::)

The problem i have is okay 250 posts to sell, but why the same amount to buy or want. I have used this forum to purchase before and it was the only place i could find what i wanted and it all had to be done by PM's, when a simple ad would have been a lot quicker and more people could have helped.

You can buy or want with a couple of posts, all you have to do to buy is PM the seller. If you want something place an add in the test section and ask an admin nicely and they'll move it for you
