Ah yes.....I'd forgotten about sad old Rhyl.
It's high on my "avoid at all costs list" ;)
-
Oi ! that's my home town , some lovely places in Middlesbrough, sadly the town hasn't been helped by a on/off scheme to regenerate large areas of the town which have been left in limbo, people can't buy or sell houses so some areas are just left to die, >:(
-

So many but seeing Blackpool was mentioned reminded me of our great weekend away in the resort.
Couldn't find a clean nice guest house so did the pleasure beach rides, had fish and chips and then saw the lights and we were back home in a clean environment by three in the morning. We will never go there again.
-
Think my own city wins for me :-X :-X :-X :-X :-X

I had a very similar experience Varche. A company do was held for two years there in a Hotel called the Norbreck Castle. It was a right dive, and the second year I refused to sleep in the room. So my poor husband, following the last dance, had to drive through the night towards my parents house in the Midlands, but we stopped in a country lane and slept in our car from about 3 a.m.!
Never stayed there again, although been back for a day trip, and did not change my mind about the awful town! :-X :-X :-X

Answer for me is Preston by the way, orrible place!

You cheeky bugger! It has it's nice bits! I'm struggling to think where...
I'd have to say Morecambe. It's as shit as Stockton, but tricks you with a fancy coastline.

Back in the 80's, used to have to visit there on business, felt depressed as I drove in.

I went there once and found out what my business colleagues told me was true: you had to pay local scallywags money to keep your company car safe!! :o :o :o :o :o :y :y :y
Once a Liverpudlian colleague refused to pay. He came back to find all his wheels gone and the car o up on bricks!! ::) ::) ::) ;D ;D

Blackpool :-X :-X
I will now put on my tin hat............and retreat! ;D ;D ;D ;D
Hence the recent initiative to extract the shale gas and let the rest cave in on top of itself. ;D
Last time I went there was to a funeral of a friend who killed herself. The place suited the mood that day, TBH. :'(

That rings bells Kevin. The recent Channel 4 TV series 999: What's Your Emergency was a shocking insight into the many back streets of Blackpool, and the many needy people, along with criminals, who live behind all the seafront illuminations. A terrible mix of drink, drugs, and mental illness. It was not exactly an advert for the town, and was depressing. :( :( :(
-
Bognor Regis, Blyth, Warminster, Stanley, all dumps, utter utter dumps
-
Cumbernauld, a concrete jungle. And as a whole I'd have to say Glasgow, most of it is a dump, you wouldn't dare walk through many of the housing estates during daylight never mind after dark.
-
Blackpool
-
Luton - the absolute pits, full of people that think it's perfectly acceptable to spit onto the floor every 5 paces.
Darren
-

I very rarely go to cities as I don't like crowds. I don't know if it is a city but I went to Newquay about 10 years ago just for the day and I have never seen a more filthy place in my life. We drove in and kept driving did not even stop it was so bad. That was at 11am so gawd knows what it is like at 11pm.

You mean Pennyhell! Most of it's gone now, mainly due to having 20,000 gallons of water dumped on their roove's! I'm sure we were at the one in your picture when it was that ones turn!
Tell you what though, there's not many places (in the UK) I'd rather be, assuming I wasn't rich!

Blaenau Ffestiniog, actually, is even grimmer than Rhyl.....
Wettest place in Wales 7 years out of 10
Greyest place in Wales 8 years out of ten
Highest Suicide rate in wales 7 years out of ten
chance of all 3 together?
70%
mind you, the new leisure centre ought to fix that.....
or that's what i thought, until i discovered it was 2 goats tied to a lamp post.
thank god i only had to work there, not live there.....

Jesus, them 2 bring back memory's ;D
18 years ago, me and our lasses first weekend away without the lad.
In the days when wearing them stupid hats was all the craze.
We ended up with 2 (one each) saying "only a bastard like me could love a bitch like her" and the missus had the other one :-[
Ended up getting in a rook with a couple of locals in the manchester who got rather lairy with the missus ::)
Ended badly for one of them so we legged it out the door before the bouncers and his mates could get across the bar too us. Not like we was hard to spot with those hats on :-[ ;D ;D
Ended up in the palace.
Now I don't / can't dance in any shape of form but I was in a foregn town and we where hammered so there I was, giving it max when I heard a voice, turned round and there was about 10 of my old 2 squadron mates on a stag weekend................. the rest is not for this forum but it brought back some memorys and we all would have ended up in the cells if it happened nowdays :-X :-X :-X ;D
Needless to say, I still get the odd bollocking off the missus when she remembers ;D ;D

Budleigh Salterton. Far too many yobs in their Aston Martins for my liking! Huurrrmpphh!

Budleigh Salterton. Far too many yobs in their Aston Martins for my liking! Huurrrmpphh!
That reminds me of another Le Mans tale. Stumbled into an Aston owner's club Vs. Jaguar owner's club food fight in the restaurant on the ferry. Apparently it was the Aston club who started dunking their bread rolls in red wine before chucking them. just not cricket!
I bet a few tweed jackets were heading to the cleaners the following week. ;D

Have you ever tried to get claret out of tweed?! Impossible! Better just to get the tailor to whip you up a new jacket ::) ::)

Funnily enough, that situation hasn't arisen, no.
Then again, I'm one of those kit car driving peasants who lives in a boiler suit. ;)
-
Funnily enough, you'd look good in tweed :y
-
.. and I think the murder mystery party my parents are planning for boxing day might involve just that. :-\ Not got any with those nice leather elbow patches, I suppose? ;)
-
I'm afraid I don't play to stereotypes, no tweed in the Guffer house unfortunately. But I could lend you something else a little more Melchett? :D
