Mileage seems a touch on the low side :-\ especially given what it used to be and also stated as being a working car :-\ not much in the way of history either...
Title: Re: 3.2 Estate
Post by: joshwyatt on 18 April 2013, 15:40:45
I know the chap selling it actually, so I'd expect it to be completely kosher.
I believe it's ex Met, so the mileage is more than likely genuinely low. There are quite a few '02' ex Met auto's out there, normally begin LV02.

Post by: ted_one on 18 April 2013, 15:50:57
Got to agree with Josh on this one,two of my cars are ex Met..3.2 DPG car came at 40.000 and the 3.0 has 68.000 both check out history wise unless the old bill is into a bit of 'clocking' etc :-\ ::)

Post by: 05omegav6 on 18 April 2013, 15:57:55
Fair dos :y

Without the full reg, it's a bit tricky to say what is or isn't normal... most of the TVP cars had between 120k and 140k when they were sold off, but the Met cars struggle to do 50k in service. I might have forgotten that ::) whenever I see a white Omega I always instantly think TVP first then Scotland second...

My first Omega was a 3.2 Plod auto estate, and I had very few problems with it.

The 3.2 lump sounds far better the the 2.6 which I now own.

I'm surprised the ad doesn't mention that it's ex-plod.  :-\

o look somebody trying to sell a nice clean car and the usauall culprit slaging it off,
as was said met cars struggled towards the end of omegas to reach the standard 100,000 by the 5 year sale time.
also it could have been a pool car hence nice n clean and low miles.

I am going to view tomorrow only round the corner from me really surprised I haven't seen it about

It's genuine believe me, the guy knows his stuff

Ex met car, last 4 mot to back mileage up plus proof of sale from Simon I think his name is down in Poole at ex police car sales, where it was sold in 2010 with 60 something K

96k is very low, says receipts going back to 2009. So suspect thats when it left plod, so add in one would have been done in 4 years, does not really add up.

Very bad wear on the drivers seat, mines done 160k and no way near that kind of level.

my 406 has done 199k and the interior is unmarked,I see others that have done half the milage and they are trashed,Josh reckons the guy is straight so could just be a low milage ex plod ;)

Doesn't necessarily mean it's been clocked though, I could show you a 60k miles 5 series with worse wear than a 170k 7 series  :y.

Like mentioned before, it come from ex police car sales in Poole in 2009 with I think they guy said 62k on, he still has the bill off the sale from them with the mileage on

Before this it was the direct from the MET, I just text the guy for the V5 number to confirm on direct gov that it adds up, but tbh it already does  :y

Surprised that it apparently comes from Lancashire :-\

My first 3.2 manual, reg WA51YNG, was a Devon and Cornwall car registered new in Exeter.

Had been clocked at some point as well :'( (bought it with 127k showing, but had to remove the cluster to change a bulb and found a sticker on the back saying '99 3.0 Auto).

When asked, Devon and Cornwall admitted to having owned the car, but only because they were named on the V5...

A trader that I used to do a lot of work for tried to buy all of his ex-plod stuff from Devon and Cornwall as he was on good terms with the police workshop manager and could get good info on the vehicles,he is sadly departed now but used to see some nice vehicles from him going right back to Triumph 2.5pi's and Victor 3300 days :y
