Im getting fed up of the pot holes and its not just in my surrounding area its everywhere >:( Ive reported all the ones that i can and that was 4 months ago and no repair work done >:( >:( What the hell is going on with no road repairs ? Just seems they wont repair anything , the roads that dont have any pot holes are all surface worn and cracked . Having already suffered damage of £200 to a previous car it looks like they have just given up any kind of road repair but thought they had to repair it if it was reported ::)

perhaps a symptom of how skint the country really is?
I'm seriously wondering whether to get a 4x4 - just to cope with the "roads"

Or move to a village where all the roads get repaired and resurfaced , 4x4 is a good idea :(

The roads haven't been properly repaired since the severe winters of 2009 and 2010.
The cut's in council budgets will mean more of the same. :-\

........and indeed they had not been well maintained, with regular resurfacing, for some considerable time before that. :P :P

Drive around a fair bit, from London, Northants to Wales. Also on bike Scotland and such, so far Wales & Scotland appear to have best roads.

The roads by me could be used as a golf course :y

No long-term gain without short-term pain Rolf.
The extra platform will soon allow a half-hourly train service direct to the capital city for ya. ;)
Add-in low fares and friendly staff ... :y

The lack of road repairs varies from area to area as where cuts are made has become very political. Like Obummer in the US trying to cause the maximum amount of discomfort where GOP would not give in to his tax rise demands, so the same applies to what councils cut here. Do you trim the oversized HR office, five veg a day, ____ (fill in as appropriate) equality outreach community worker or cut road repairs. That will depend upon council politics.
If you think the roads are bad here, they have really deteriorated in the Ukraine over the last few years to the point on some motorways (we would call them dual carriageways) and A roads about every 100m, they look like a WWI shelled area with the odd bit of tarmac left. I plan to temporary import my Omega for a year, but this may have to change depending upon the road repairs during the summer repair season, where a 4x4 maybe a necessity.

I have used a 2 prong attack with some success.
Fixmystreet has been effective particularly in Tameside - http://www.fixmystreet.com/ (http://www.fixmystreet.com/) and also added that as a visitor to the area the roads were worse than then developing countries I go to .
In Sandhurst I used this website and got neighbours to use as well. Also leafleted with others about 100 houses and asked them to contact Coucil, wrote letters and got press involved and next thing is they resurfaced the lot - all roads in immediate area - took them about 2 years though to move from patching to full resurface.

what they doing at the moment is putting tar down with fine chippings , dont half make a mess on the car ;D ;D

They have done this in Durham for years, a quick way of resurfacing the whole road, judging by the pile of chippings in a lay-by on the main road, they may be doings some resurfacing soon............. Pot holes in Durham, where I go, not too bad, Terrible around Ripon, North Yorkshire........ :( :(

It may well be, but Durham have been doing this for 40+ years that I know of, a bugger on a bike, when they have scraped the surface ready for recovering........ ;) ;)
