I've just given the dowager a quick wash and brush up. As you would expect of a car this age there are a few marks here and there, but nothing serious.
Being a product of the Fatherland it's too efficient and sterile to be a true Omega replacement, but so long as it performs well (and doesn't cost me an arm and a leg) then I'm happy.
I wonder ::) ......would that V8 slot into my now dormant MV6 2.6?.....Hmmm. Now there's a future project. ;D

That the Nissan Leaf is one of the hardest cars to sell second hand.....someone on here has one dont they ;D

They are rather nice looking beasts, do like that Mr Opti :)
With my miles the V8 would be out of the question. But a 320 CDi version, hummm!

A lovely car the Merc CLS - A friend and I bought an accident damaged AMG model in 2006 as a project and then had it repaired, ended up stripping the car to basically the shell to enable us to repair it properly and my friend was so impressed with it he has kept it - they are very well put together. Enjoy your new purchase!
A few pics of ours from when we bought it to when it was finished.

Is four wheel steering standard :P

No - it was an option when you hit a traffic island and then a roundabout at around 60MPH :)

Once you get used to that nice looking luxurious Merc, you will be happier to part with that old Omega. Who knows, if you still have it in late March/early April I might give you good money for it with an MOT!

Does it have Airmatic? I like mine :)
Oil filter housing is nice a to get to .... I really need to take the top cover off mine to get to my filter.

Not quite, Andy.
I said it was a £605 optional extra in 2006. Luckily for me the first owner thought it was a good idea to tick the options box. :y

On mine it's just below the gear lever....right next to the adjustment for the airmatic suspension. :y

And Merc designers have no concept of speccing components... ...which is probably why the chassis always ends up performing so badly ;D

The CLS 500 is basically an E 500 in a posh frock. Is the CLS worth an extra £7000 when new?.....Not in my view.
Vauxhall did the same thing with the Cavalier. They give it a fancy frock and called it the Calibra.
-
Can they cope with lpg?

Less lubrication than unleaded.

Less lubrication than unleaded.
of course.

Ford do/did offer the Transhit with a 2.3 four pot lpg/petrol engine as it makes their corporate emissions look good... unfortunately because the engine is made of alloy toffee, the valve seats burn out after five minutes, so I don't suspect it's a strong seller ::) ;D

I gather, all fords are a no no for lpg.... Just to be overly clear.
Don't know if its just Ford, and hence Jag, that have problems, or what?
Hence the Q re Mercs.
LD says with BMW its the engine management that's the problem, as the perameters are overly tight/fussy.
-
Very nice Mercedes Mr Opti 8) :y
Bet she flys like sh*t off a shovel ;D ;)
-
I know of an x5 (spit) that's duel fuel and eml is almost permanently lit due to tight fuel trim error range.
-
I'm sure the V8 could be made to fit the Omega, but you'd be stuck with auto
