Title: Strange night last night
Post by: Stemo on 29 January 2014, 15:42:30
I was sitting playing with my iPad on my lap at about 7:30 when I got a really bad pain across my chest. It then went to my (right) shoulder, neck and jaw. I won't kid you, I shit myself, I could hardly breathe. Mrs called an ambulance and the first responder was here in a bout ten minutes. Wired me up and gave me aspirin and painkillers. Ambulance came about twenty minutes later and took me to hospital.
More wires and a blood test, and told to sit in the waiting room, so I thought it couldn't be too bad. After an hour of trying to read the subtitles on the telly from twenty yards they took me for a chest X-ray and then another waiting room, minus telly, but complete with beat-up drunk who wouldn't shut up.
Then I was told I'd have to stay the night, when they found a bed....shit. Next was an injection into my stomach to thin my blood, then back to waiting room.
It's now midnight and I'm getting royally pissed off. Tuesday night, comparatively quiet, yet no beds.
Now the stupid bit.....I waited until about quarter to one and made a break for it. Stood outside in the pissing rain in just a jumper waiting for a cab, hiding like a prison escapee in case they came to get me. They didn't and I got home about 1:30. Missus was surprised ::)

Anyway....feel ok'ish today........been out with the dog....so you don't get rid of me that eas..................gasp....... ;D

You need to follow this up to make sure it was not a minor heart attack.

When my ex-wife had one, they used a blood test to assert weather she had and also found her cholesterol level was over 12!  :o :o :o

Yeah, I know. But they said that would take two hours and then changed it to 'the morning'.

Indigestion can give some weird sensations, still best to get it checked though. :)

But there's no choice but to get it checked.

I really don't think it was heart related, I wouldn't be stupid enough to do a runner if I did. But.....I am at a funny age and I should be careful, I know.
I think it was possibly something to do with stress. I am always running around like the proverbial blue-arsed fly. Thanks for your concern.

Your lass was right, you can't do bugger all right! ::) (She told me that just before your taxi turned up out of the blue  :D)
p.s. If you find a 10p piece down the back of your sofa can I have it back please? Ta ;)
Btw, whilst I agree with you that it appears to be a right waste of time, because hospitals arent fully staffed at night, getting you hooked up to a defibrillator 'on the premises' so to speak would take a lot less time than waiting for the Cavalry to arrive. Time you can't afford to lose in that kind of situation Steve! ;)
Lets hope it was neither summat nor nowt lad :y

If they stuck a needle in your gut....then that was probably warfirin injection.....they think you have a blood clot...you need to go back for the results.....i was on a 6 month course of warfirin when i had  a DVT ....

Just take back all the stuff you took home in the taxi and ask for the results. ::) :o ;D

The fact you said you were struggling to breath suggests it may be heart related. So get it checked properly you daft oof.

If you have a major heart attack it is not like Hollywood portray with a defibrillator hooked up and all ends well, 80% of people don't survive.  :(

Anxiety can throw up chest pains and breathing difficulties.

The thing is that you were given aspirin (a blood thinner) and another drug (probably warfarin or something similar) to thin your blood.  As you had had both you were at an elevated risk of internal bleeding and strokes which is why you should have stayed in and be monitored.  If you had collapsed at home unconscious your wife, with all good intentions, probably would have explained to the paramedics that you went in to hospital earlier with a suspected heart attack.  The first thing they would have done?  Yup, probably filled you full of aspirin or more blood thinners and it would be bye bye Esta!

In future, please just let the medics do their job.
