I am being forced to go work there for 2 weeks from next Sunday. I get all the rubbish jobs.
-
Why do people in well paid jobs complain in this way.
I suspect that you will be staying in a decent hotel, will be fed and watered at no expense to yourself. Net result is zero cost to you. I expect you might even get to come home during the middle weekend.
Frankly I find this quite offensive and would imagine that I'm not the only one on here.
Rant over, but please be sensitive to the many people on here who are struggling at the moment :-X
If it makes things more PC then "IMHO", blood still boiling though.

Poor sole. ::)

He will probably be eating Dover Sole, maybe Lemon Sole in a nice restaurant each night .......... ::)

I would suggest, Rob, that he was being sarcastic.

How can anyone be forced to work as an insurance salesman?

someones gotta pay for that kitchen.
-
No insurance salesman but I do give insurance companies a run for their money. They made only a small contribution to the kitchen ;) ;)

I have worked abroad a lot and at first it was great but after a while it feels just the same as here, I did stay in lovely hotels and ate/drank at the companys expense but as soon as the job was done you were straight back on the plane to the next job or home
America is a great place to visit but not for three days in the midwest :)
Portugal is lovely but when it was 44 degrees and I was in the North of the country working in an industrial area it was anything but fun :)

Bah, no place like Reading. :)

Yup .. did that for 38 years in the RAF Transport Command (as it was when I started) .. lots of exotic sounding places and saw the inside of a hotel room for some of the 14 hours ground time ...
Although "sometimes" there was a problem and a few days off awaiting spares ....... :)

Oh for F , are you staring that again? Your deluded, clearly ;D

Went to Zurich in 2007, lovley place. Would like to go again one day.
Ignore the doom and gloom members, just jealous. :)

There is more to life than money, but it does help.

Only twenty minutes from me - Woman and I had our first date there... I know, I know, I'm the last of the old romantics ;)

Did nights out in Darlington when I was based in Catterick. Unless it's changed drastically in the last forty years.... :-X
-
I have to go to far nicer places. Next week is (only just) South London, then in March a week in Wolverhampton. Beat that!
:'(
Joking aside, I don't personally like working away for too long, it gets a bit depressing after a while, and the initial enjoyment of getting phished up on the company's expense in a hotel bar does start to wear thin after a while, even if its a semi decent hotel. That said, I've done far worse things for a job. Fortunately, I don't have to do overnighters too often :)

I used to like going abroad, when i was a tech installing 'large' computers/fixing them...
Business class on flights.....top class hotels (to ensure the receptionists could speak english)
Better on installs, because they would send two of us (hardware tech and software tech).....so at least you had someone to chat to in the evenings....
Not so good on repairs....then they would only send one tech....
Company Amex card that was never questioned (unless you charged £100 bottles of champers to it!)
Shame they went bust......i dunno why :-\ ::) ;D

I used to see a girl who lived in Shepard's Bush and lived 5 minutes walk from the tube, although allegedly that took her into West Kensington. :-\ She was a bit of a social climber..... ::)

I will when you are sitting on the early morning BA flight from Heathrow to Paris for a few hours where it is delayed due to fog. Been there, done that, where Paris is in a fog basin. ;) :-[ :P ;D

I will likely take the Eurostar to Paris but fly to Lyon. BA and SqueezyJet do the latter.

Oh the joys of Satolas (believe the names changed now - also hope the airport has, was such a dump!!) Always ended up there on a Friday night, and flight always delayed - used to swap tickets and fly a Swiss flight into Zurich, onto a flight to Brussels (have a meeting/drink with my Belgian guy), then back to UK landing before the direct Lyons flight.

There is a lot of regeneration work going on there and you can tell that when it is finished it will look pretty decent :y

If you do not take a plug adaptor your electric Leaf may become a white elephant. In which case you may need winding up yourself if you have the Nissan clockwork back uppack option

Be nice if IT was still like that - a blank cheque!
I spent last week in Tel Aviv in a shoddy hotel (I've seen cleaner Travelodges) on an industrial estate a half hour walk from the office (Taxi not reclaimable) with a choice of two nearby restaurants or room service (which only served sandwiches), and given the per diem rate we get I'll no doubt be out of pocket by the time all is said and done..
Although not as out of pocket as our annual conference in Seattle, which costs me about £500 to go to - unless, of course, I wanted to share a room with a colleague..
Feel for me.
;D

I'll leave it here with the missus. It's the one thing electric she cannot break. Although it is just a matter of time.
