Hi,
Forgive me if this post is in the wrong section. :-[
I'll try and describe the problem the best I can.
When I remove the key from the ignition after every drive I get what I can only describe as a very short audible sound which starts off loud then fades out within seconds. I'm sure it's coming from the ignition barrel or somewhere near ? :-\
This happens when I take the key out the ignition and before I set any alarms or lock the car etc. ???
I probably haven't described this very well but hopefully somebody may have an idea what this could be or had a similar experience.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Paul :y

Do you still have the power sounder fitted?
-
Not sure to be honest as I haven't had the car long. Not sure what I'm looking for :-[
If it is connected could it be this? Just wondered why it happens after key removal ? :-\
-
think i know what sound you mean , i heard it today on mine as i took the key out ignition . It sounds like a squeaky toy but quieter :y
Maybe just the audible open door alarm not sounding properly .
-
Could be but it sounds when the door is closed and the key removed. :-\

Power sounder lives under the driver's side of the wiper scuttle ............. http://www.omegaowners.com/forum/index.php?topic=90675.0 :y They do chirp as they die/about to die ;)
-
Haven't heard any chirps at all but could it sound when I'm taking the key out the ignition ?
Guess it's best to get it disconnected if it hasn't been done already and then see if the sound is still there on key removal
-
Lights on/key in warning buzzer losing a static charge would be my guess, but don't ask me how or why it happens :-[
-
Power sounder gives a noise when keys put in and power applied, not when taken out and power removed - highly unlikely to be that ;)

Does it have a after market HU fitted?

Makes sense that :y
I get the same thing on my Mv6
Standard 2013 head unit and the power sounder is removed
-
Not sure if powersounder has been removed but I still need to check when I get 5 mins ::)
My car had a CCR2006 fitted and now has a sony aux CD player which was fitted last week. Nothing to do with that is it ? ;D
-
It sounds like an MV thing ::) Mine has aftermarket HU also :(

I had an Astra G that came with an after market head unit in it ...... that used to do a strange chirp of sorts when the key was removed. Sorted with a GM head unit. (it was a while ago no so details are a little misty now ::))

Some sony head units bleep after ignition is turned off, mine does it :y
-
It definately sounds like its coming from near drivers door or ignition barrel area though. Sounds like I'm going nuts but I can't explain it any other way :-[

The sound is more like a strangled budgie :-\

Yep definitely from the ignition area like mine :y
-
Yep EMD, sounds like we have the same issue. What's your thoughts ? ;)

likewise the Astra I had. :y

So could it be a problem with the actual ignition barrel? Will it need changing at some point ? :-\
-
Mine used to do it, now doesn't... only thing that I have changed which might have inadvertently solved it was fitting a new battery...
-

No. A GM head unit fixed what ever the car was chirping at.

Mine has never had a GM headunit fitted, so likely an electrical gremlin in the wiring somewhere...
-
these days I have the same acoustic noise when turning off the ignition. it only sounds once every 12 hours or so isn't?
mine does it when the keys are still in the ignition.
-
Had a closer look today.
It seems to be coming from the buzzer that sounds when you open your door with the lights on :-\
-
Must be an echo in here... ::)
