Title: what is this button?
Post by: firemoth on 30 May 2014, 18:57:25
As per title,

(http://i1075.photobucket.com/albums/w430/jamesastra/IMG_20140530_185326_zps0vhkoacc.jpg) (http://s1075.photobucket.com/user/jamesastra/media/IMG_20140530_185326_zps0vhkoacc.jpg.html)

I can't see reference to it in the manual and it doesn't seem to do anything. Any ideas?

But what is it? Telling me not to press it makes me want to press it. If I know what it is therefore why not to press it, temptation may pass

You've been told numerous times not to play with the nasty button by people with sense and much experience in the matter. Now stop thinking about playing with the button of doom and forget it exists  ::) it's not worth the pain :o

Mine was a direct line to Tool-Master for some unknown reason.  :-\  I think that's what it said anyway, my hearing ain't too good.  :-\
When I pressed mine, it just said "your subscription to Tool-Master has expired" and then read out some random number to dial and said I owed them £24. I never pressed it again after that in case it kept taking £24.  ;) ;)

Aha! I win! After much probing and asking many many people, I've come across traffic master. And after looking into it, have no interest in it whatsoever. That's that sorted  :)

I wasn't lying, it did cost you £24 (for a yearly subscription) .........errrr..........just not every time you pressed it.  ;) ;D

Did they do away with it in all of the later models as my 98 plate elite had it fitted but my 52 plate elite hasn't even got the button?  :-\
Not that it matters now.  ::)

If its not saying anything when you press it, somebody has removed the box.

The system was shut down last year (or was it 2012), sadly. I found it a useful warning of upcoming traffic problems.

It was pressed with ignition off if it makes any difference. It doesn't light up or anything either with ignition on

Ah, ign needs to be on.  But the network it needs to function has been shut down.

So what happens if it's accidentally pressed? Wool it give a message for a bit then go away or will it just not shut up. Ie do I need to make sure it's all ripped out?

Only one way to find out :P

Just don't sit in the passenger seat, as the roof section removes and the ejector seat fires....
