Any idea how I might get this bolt remains out?
Powerful mains drill and new drill bits it's won't hardly scratch it!!
Do we have anyone on the forum with the kit to helicoil it, who I could perhaps post it to in return for suitable beer funds?
Advice much appreciated :y

Cobalt drill? They're harder than a normal HSS twist drill :-\
What size is it? I can lend you the stuff for a Thread Cert (arguably better than a Helicoil)

Bracket now in the hands of a local machine shop.
I'm working a set of 7 lates/nights, I'm moving house on 14 June and need to be able to drive the Dti with me.
Few questions if I may
what do we think caused the bolt to break? The aux tensioner seems ok on the face of it, it's just the bolt that's broken
Also on a seperate note, I didn't realise the PAS pump would fall to bits upon removal :D
It appears to have lost 4 of the (slot in) vanes from the rear impellor, I can't find them anywhere
The AC compressor doesn't feel brilliant to turn. Was there ever a Dti without aircon so I can bypass it? (Shorter belt)
Are the vanes available separately? Maybe Make some?

Aircon and aircon compressor was working fine on the car and has held its gas for about 4 months IIRC.
Believe you'll need to look for a belt for a Vectra B with a Y20DTH as I believe all the Omega facelift DTi's had AC

.. as to the PAS pump, just replace it. If it's fallen apart to that extent its' useful days are over. :y

Aux tensioner bolt on brother's Elite Dti did the same a few months ago, not long after the water pump went. Never seen any of this before on a Dti,
James the air con pump is on the engine in the garage, if you are going to have it and want any of the parts early then pop over and take them off :y as for the compressor, I would have to have a look in the garage tomorrow as I am about to start 4 twelve hour night shifts, but will keep an eye out for a reply.

little to late i guess,I always use left handed drill bit to remove broken bolts studs etc often find they actually unscrew the remains whilst drilling it!

James, I don't want to teach you to suck eggs, but are you trying to drill the whole 10mm in one go? That rarely works without a lot of power which you won't get from a hand-held drill. Have you tried it in stages; say 4mm(being careful not to break the bit), 7mm and then 10.
The quality of the bits makes a difference too. Getting good, branded ones from your local engineers supplier could really help.

Simply replacing the bracket would have saved alot of sodding about ::)
All facelifts had climate, and therefore aircon. Would Vectra ancilliaries be in the same places, if not a non aircon Vectra belt probably won't fit :-\

Couldn't get another bracket anywhere it's a very large item
Machine shop have sorted it, ready for collection £20 :y

Have they just removed the remnants or used an insert or helicoil to restore the thread?

It's been helicoiled, seems fine.
Apart from the fact the air con pump feels a little dry to turn (it spins smoothly) I can't find any reason for this bolt breaking. Tensioner and all ancillaries spin fine and tensioner is ok.
Any ideas? :y

Might not hurt to replace the bearing in the tensioner pulley, might get hot and stick slightly, and if you were giving it large when it broke...
Have killed a water pump on a car by finding second instead of fourth ::)

I will check it out, I was creeping out of asda parking space when it let go and immediately switched off :y
