......four cylinder version of the Omega?
Of course, like most people, I've heard the rumours. I've heard the rumour that an anaemic four pot motor was fitted to some variants of Vauxhall's magnificent flagship, thus endowing this heavy car with glacial acceleration and poor fuel consumption. ::) ::) ::)
Surely this can't be true. It has to be no more than malicious gossip.......right?
Having owned three Omega......each with with 6 cylinders set in a 'V' formation I genuinely hope that the rumour of an inline four cylinder omega with barely enough power to break wind is false. :y :D :D :D ;D
Someone please tell me it is. ;)

The 2.0 8v didnt seem to go to well!

I though all variants had 4 valves for each cylinder. :-\
So an undernourished 2 litre lump with only 4 cylinders and 8 valves. Can it get any worse?.... ;) :D

Errr, yes, they did a variant with a 2.0l diesel. Silly people.

Why does every one pick on us 4 pot owners ;D
We've done nothing wrong apart from choose the wrong engine apparently :-\
Your only jealous cause we've got bags of room to work around the engine :y
You know what you are dr. Opti you are potist, like a racist but towards inferior 4 pots ;D
-

I've heard they are an ideal students car, where there not fast enough to harass the person carrying the red flag in front of them and they don't need to pull the skin off a rice pudding. :P They get at least 600 miles per tank of fuel, 50,000 miles out of a set of tyres and 30,000 miles out of their front brake pads. So poor students on a tight budget can afford to buy and run them. I think there is a student who drives one in Camberley, who I'm sure can enlighten you further. :P ;D ;D ;D ;D

I've heard rumours that the man carrying the red flag occasionally has to slow down so the 'out of breath' four pot can catch up. ::) ::) ;)

Would have been even better if they had carried through with the LS1 engine. :(
-
So it's not just a nasty rumour then ::) ;D........the 4 cylinder Omega was a nightmare made reality.... ::) ::) ;)
-
They could have, er, blessed it with the 1.8 SOHC lump from the Carlton ::) so actually the Omega got off quite lightly ;D
-
They soon realised the 2.0 8V wasn't up to the job either!

I have to admit to test driving a 2.0 auto estate in the days before I bought my first 'proper' Omega .......a white 3.2 plod estate.
Oh boy was that two litre auto a slug..... ;D ;D

Driven quite a few of them and they are all slugs, that's why I went for one that delivered the most economy with the most toys.
Far to much weight to go round corners properly or accelerate with any gusto but they are a lot of car for the money and a well set up one still drives nice given the age of the design.
Next will be an 3.0tdi A8 for me once this one gets more aggro than its worth.
-
It will be cheaper, and less stressful to keep the Omega going than to replace it with an A8, especially one with that arse backwards chain driven timing gear ::)
-

We'll wait and see on that one.
Not found a car yet that does not have its issues and I do like the A8's just not the mpg of the petrol's.
I also like the Chrysler 300 diesel
There is reference to 1 in 4 having mental issue's in another post so lets not even go there. :D
