This is how it should be. :)

Rang DVLA yesterday to discuss moving a direct debit to a different account...

Eventually spoke to a helpful lady who said, "You've paid for March, so simply cancel it then on or after April 1st you'll simply need to retax it..."

Great, nice and easy... so off I trot and cancel the direct debit...

This morning I receive an email from the saying that the direct debit has been cancelled and that I need to retax the car immediately  ???

That'll be another 25 minute call tomorrow  >:(

There's no facility for that... unless you do the account switching thing, but you can't switch a business account into a non business account.

My priority was to opps Lloyds Business banking off asap... so I did, and if setting up a few direct debits is what's required, it's a small price to pay :y

You can't alter direct debits online... they have to be cancelled and restarted fresh... I need to ring them to confirm the car is still taxed before I go to work, otherwise I will need to rearrange my car tax :y

I think that as long as you have a DD in place you'll be fine. Cancel existing, set up new one. Job done!  :y

Ah, but how can he set up the new DD short of taxing the car again? AFAIK 'you' (the punter) can't set up a DD, only the receiving company can - unlike a Standing Order which 'you' (the punter) set up.

I saw one of your ilk this morning, sitting in the outside lane of the M3 at 50 (in the 50 stretch) despite two clear lanes to her left. When she eventually moved over (because she'd come up behind a roadworks lorry about to enter the roadworks) she moved straight back to lane three as soon as she could.

OK, but if he cancels his existing DD and then provides new bank details, then what could possibly go wrong?  ::)  ;D

Still showing on DVLA Vehicle Enquiry as taxed, so will keep checking, and if it changes I shall pop on line and start over, otherwise it can wait until April 1st ;D
