Had to drive down M20 this morning ,thankfully the "lorry park" has gone ..well for the time being . :-\
Can honestly say its a disgrace the rubbish/plastic bottles (no doudt used as toilets) and every other imaginable item of rubbish left on the hard shoulder and central reservation.
Yes I do feel sorry for the lorry drivers being stuck there for hour on end ,but somebody should of made them take their rubbish away. Its bad enough every mile or so having a DavLav adding to the scenery of Kent, but the rubbish is quite disgraceful.More money on the clearup to be added to the taxes in Kent I expect >:(

I doubt if they will clean it andrew as stack will be back by Wednesday >:(

A by product of the inactivity of Cameron. I said weeks ago when it all kicked off that the whole thing is a national disgrace and the government should have acted swiftly.
The lorry park has gone? Has it just been moved to MOD land?
What amazes me is that the British public and businesses just put up with it.

What land??.....the only land they could use is the firing range at hythe and tbh I hope they know were the mines are they have buried over there or we could have a few trucks going bang...but they have not decided on that and again we still have a redundant airport 30 miles away where a few lorries can park but the problem is finding some where you can park 35 miles of lorries :y

Operation Stack has and will be a continuing for Kent for some considerable time.
What really annoyed me today was the complete lack of any form of respect for the area ..rubbish on hard shoulder and central reservation with no sign of any bins ,just the odd DavLav .Expect M20 will be shut when they eventually decide to clear the rubbish up on H@S grounds or a infestation of Foxes causes the Tree Huggers to declare it an Area Of Outstanding..something or other.Utter tip >:(

I fail to see how anyone, other than the drivers themselves, can be blamed for their lack of consideration for their suroundings or other people. Litter is litter, it doesn't happen by itself.. it is a product of lack of respect, lack of thought and pure bloody laziness... but its always easier to blame a politician for something he has no control of as its a nice easy shot that makes a good sound bite ... just like Harman always does... never let the truth get in the way of a good sound bite ....

Yep,very true.

Sorry but it is a by product of Camerons inactivity. If Eurotunnel was operating securely then there wouldn't be operation stack. That doesn't excuse the lorry drivers in any way for fly tipping. That too is disgusting.
As an aside how long before the migrants mysteriously obtain bolt croppers to attack the new fence with.....

I have to agree but as it is our border in France (and yes it is ours not the frence) we should be able to protect it how we wish and I would stop this problem in a matter of days...put the gurkas out there and arm them with permission anyone that comes through the fence gets shot....bit heavy handed some may think but it will only take 2-3 and the word will go round...and for all those that think this is me being racist or anything along these lines don't even go there I sat in 4 hours of traffic on Thursday to do a trip that should take 1.5 hours tops and to be racist you have to single out a specific race and you will notice I did state 'anyone'

One woman was interviewed tonight on the box...what a load of crap. Also some bloke 'wanted to see his family'. There are legal ways to come over to 'see the family'.
I can't recall loads of Brits doing the same to get abroad 'to see the family'
I know as an earlier poster said, its a bit draconian, but the use of firearms, has to be considered. Shooting over their heads to start with, they should get the message.
One thing I noticed is that they seem to think they are welcome here, why is nothing being done to tell them they are not., No paperwork, no troops, nothing....how are they supposed to get the message
The aforementioned woman, did not have an answer when asked why not France or Italy....bleated on about how we will give her this and that, etc.
Not gonna say any more...probably upset some anyway!!!!!!!

The only thing Cameron has done wrong is not flying to France and kicking François Hollande in the happy-sack.

The biggest problem, with taking the heavy hand with the "swarm" is reminders of 70 years ago in Europe, and being called a racist, which the. Opposition and do-gooders are already doing,
The person to blame is good ole America and uncle Tony's foreign policy, don't see the Americans opening there doors >:(
Or going extreme, re-form ss-divisions, namely deaths head, or toten gruppen.

Close the tunnel until the problem is resolved. If that means permanently, so be it.

Is that a biased answer, as we all know,of your love of le shuttle ::),or a rational thought process?
A slight flaw, would move the problem to the port :(

Solutions at Calais are just sticking plasters.
The problem needs fixing at source. Why are people leaving their war torn countries? Who created the foment in the first place?
It is a sobering fact that there are more people "displaced" in the world now than during the second world war. Displaced means they have had to leave the place they called home for somewhere safer. If you have to do that why not go the whole hog and go somewhere with potentially good prospects? I would in their place.

It would seem everyone is missing the point ..IT IS OUR BORDER not the French so no wonder they wont/cant/don't want to secure it....shooting at them is draconian??.....no I don't think so and no not over there head shot to kill only way to get the message across

The border for the tunnel is only in France though agreement as originally it was going to be in the UK, so the French are threatening to tear up the current agreement and shift the problem to the UK.
Closing the tunnel is actually a very good suggestion as Eurotunnel is now a 100% owned French company, so do we care if it can no longer operate? Europe also sells more to us than we do to them, so it will be in their interests to make sure trade is not restricted. There are anti-invasion doors that can be used along with flooding it as a built-in safeguard to stop a European invasion of our island. We can go back to all ferry travel, which is much more controllable and this is why they congregate at Calais and not other Channel ports.
The chief culprits for the current African migration are the US, UK and France. Iraq: US and UK, Libya: UK and France and ISIS Obummer's stupid total rapid withdrawal of troops from Iraq, where he has not got a clue on FP, but always knows from his armchair that overruling his Generals on the ground is never going to cause a problem, where: 1) He is always right. 2) If he is wrong see rule 1. He may well go down in history as the first president that has lost 2 wars in quick succession in: Iraq and Afghanistan.
Going further back in time many of the Middle Eastern problems stem from 1918 UK / French arbitrary division of countries in the Middle East between them in the Sykes-Picot agreement. This meant that the two incompatible Islamic groups of the Sunni and Shi'a were not split on ethnic lines and this is still being sorted out in many of the current wars. :o :o :o

The migrants congregate, around the ferry port of Dunkirk, and Calais, they are not seen until the trucks start stacking up.

The thing that bothers me is if people are getting through how do we know who is getting in to the country and what are they up too
For example airports have all the security checks but anyone could get through the tunnel with anything they wanted who knows what is being bought in to the UK illegally
Also what is being done at this end of the tunnel are they simply being let go once they are in the UK what control have we got this side surely somebody is watching the tunnel exits and could round them up as the come through if we can't stop them entering the tunnel stop them our side
Every time you here about "trouble " at the crossing its at Calais and not our end
-
When the French catch people trespassing in the tunnel depot at Coquelles or the ferry port at Calais they take them down the road and let them go. What we should do is pop trespassers back across the channel and let them go on the beach. :y
I expect that there are still a few servicable WW2 landing craft that could be pressed into action and it would create a few jobs as well. ;D

Tig it is only 30 miles...the swim will do them good :y

If all these people are displaced / asylum seekers/ refugees - call them what you will, how come at least 90% of them are young males between approx. 17 - 35 years old ?
Where are all the displaced etc. children, women, elderly people etc ? ::)
And why didn't they claim asylum in the first safe place they arrived at ? ::)
Refugees my arse, I would assume they are nothing but a bunch of chancers, unless any of them can prove beyond doubt otherwise, and treat them accordingly. ;)

Because, as I understand it, if they are granted Asylum, they can then claim Asylum for their family. Makes sense for the 'fittest' to chance making the journey alone.

Yes, quite right...So....as these chancers are at Calais, some have been for months....where are the rest of the family now. If it is not safe for them at home, as is implied, they will be dead, tortured or in prison by now. I have not seen any evidence of families in the pictures of camps that I have viewed

Theoretically, no-one should be able to apply for asylum here, as we are not connected to any other country other than Ireland, if you take the UK as a whole. Therefore every asylum seeker has to pass through a 'first safe country' before they get here. If that is the rule ???
I suppose Iceland and Greenland and the Faroes would be eligible. Forgive my geography...not top notch :)
