Apart from the ham-fisted pillock May ballsing up the most simple of operations, and thinking it's amusing to hold up production by acting like a school girl. I'd have dragged the winker out of that cage by his hair and kicked him in the nuts.

Followed by crossing the threads in the captive nuts for the tailgate hinge on two successive bodies.

I wonder if they will run an 8mm tap through the nuts and put the bodies back on the line? or send them to be crushed?  :-\

I get the urge to spit on Freelanders when I see them as they were hateful things to put together, Evoques are made of tinfoil by the way...avoid at all cost's..especially the convertible version they are bringing out as they are really, really struggling to make it less wobbly and bendy enough to pass crash tests  :o

on a part that probably won't ever be removed in the vehicle's life.
You don't think they'll pretend it's a proper Mini and ignore it?

All the fettling that James May did on TG was obviously lies. He's like an untrained chimp when handling something as simple as a screwdriver.

It was the put the bolt/nut on the tailgate bit that made me laugh.. think he went in there twice and screwed the job up

I did a work test for Nissan years ago when they were building bluebirds , did the job ok , but they said they were reluctant to take people on from the construction industry on as they couldn't stand the boredom ! heard plenty of stories of people walking out mid-shift as they got sick of the monotony  :(

I spent two years building rear axles for the viva at Ellesmere Port, it is very boring. But, as there were four of us (one each side building alternate axles) we learned to have a laugh and the shift passed pretty quickly.
That was 9 hour night shifts btw.
Plus, as you got more proficient, you could ask the foreman to turn the track up and knock your score out with about two hours to spare. But waiting round to clock off was even worse than working. The tiredness doesn't hit until you stop working.

Am just watching it now :)

I actually quite like James May programs, but I would've told him to opps off out the way when he was pretending to hold up the line....
