Hi all could someone please tell me what oil type I need please for my 3.2 auto and also do these have a fuel filter you can replace aswell ? Many thanks
-
Either 5w30 or 10w40. Genuine Gm oil is best value if you shop around... Can be had from dealers cheaply enough (£12 per can) if you ask nicely/have a Trade Card, or online from £60 for 20 litres.
Your car needs 5.5 litres.
Yes they have a fuel filter... Bit fiddly to change as it's above the back axle :y
-
Thankyou again for the help :)
-
Why would you pay £60.00 when you can get 4 cans for £48,00.

Depends on your dealer... My local one has decided that 5w30 is £168+ vat for twenty litres...
Suffice to say that £115 delivered for 40l is a much better deal... ;)
Point is, it your dealer wants to be an arse, shop around :y

TC price for 10W40 is about £28+VAT for 20l can.

About a quarter of the retail price then :y

I bought 20L of 5/30 from ecp £22.00 on there last oil promotion.
-
Ah, but ECP water their oil down :y :D

Last week, my Trade price for Fully Synthetic 5W30 at Wycombe Vauxhall was £15.35 per 5 litres. It was discounted down, according to their paperwork from £40 per 5 litres. Shows the mark up if that figure is right. !! :y

Checked my service history pdf to find I got 20l for £38.62, that's 10-40. :)
-
Newbie question again am I correct in going for fully or semi

I got 20 ltrs of 10w40 for £36.30 recently when I went in on the off chance and asked nicely. :y but another time I was dismissed with "We're out of stock mate" :-\
So I think it depends on the parts guy's mood that day. ::) Whether his Mrs is being cooperative or not! ;D

You can use either 10/40 semi-synthetic or 5/30 fully synthetic.

Ooooooo....you don't wanna use that. It makes the cover on your pre-cat fall off.

Given your issues with your local Stealer, surely it's worth getting a list of bits built up, and then making the pilgrimage to a dealer who will facilitate you with TC prices, and be effectively 'stocked up' for a year. All you'd have to do is coincide it with another thing, like a day out, trip to a seaside/museum/art gallery/roller disco, whatever you're into to make the trip 'pay for itself' The oil at TC's £30 vs £63 alone would save you £33 right off the bat... £66 saved if you bought two 20l tubs. Just food for thought... :)

Not to rub it in, but Vauxhall Now Heathrow gave me a good deal on 10/40 Semi yesterday.
