Looks like boot lid, bumper and some of the small lights around the bumper trim.
The beemer that did it had both headlights, bumper and bonnet firked :o
It was a fair old whack too.

You need to get a towbar!
If none of the structure is damaged, then it might be an easy DIY fix. Insurance route will see it written off, of course, so don't let it out of your sight if that's not what you want.

Yeah that's probably the route to take. Assessed at home, written off, bought back and repaired. I can't let it go away for assessment asI need it for work.

All I can say is it's been about 4 months and I've still got a heavily stoved in wing and door, and I've so far got a hefty £90 in my bank account, with the remaining £500 excess yet to be paid, because the third party isn't accepting liability. Amazingly. I genuinely wish you the best of luck. As far as I can see, all the 3rd party has to do is not accept liability.. ever, and then the poor sod who gets hit doesn't ever get any money. Easy. So if you went to court charged with triple murder, say 'I didn't do it, judge' then they let you off 'ah well, he can't be lying, can he?' Bizzarre!!!
Might be able to source you a tailgate, (star silver) but the guy probably needs it to keep his car watertight, so to speak... unless he'd swap yours for his, maybe? Hmmm... that's a thought - let me know if you get stuck sourcing a tailgate, yes?

If you sit tight for a day or two, I wouldn't be surprised if the 3rd party insurers contact you and ask you what you want to make it right. They haven't got a leg to stand on as far as liability is concerned, so will want to minimise their costs, and if they can cut your insurer out of the loop that's a lot of costs gone.

I hadn't thought of that, certainly a good strategy. The car drives and is road worthy. I will have to give it a few days anyway before I see what happens to the tender neck I have right now. It feels like I have played a match of rugby propping against a massive front row. Hopefully it will be nothing but a stiff neck in the morning.

Unless the lock has physically smashed and jammed, I'd have thought someone inside pushing/kicking whilst you press the pushlock should shift it.
Looking at the damage I'd guess the back panel has been pushed in a little, so some fettling would be required to pull the rear panel/lock rearward to meet correctly with the new tailgate. By fettling I mean spansets attached to a tree, which you ratchet tight to bend and pull the rear panel back into line! But fingers crossed the issue lies with the soon-to-be-replaced tailgate :)

As for the car... Who does he work for? No contesting liability, unless you brake tested him ::) so highly likely that the third party will want to settle with you directly. Just inform your insurers (just in case) that it has happened and that, at present, it is an information only call because you intend to deal with the third party.

I had this happen about 5 years ago and got a call from the 3rd party insurer as I walked in through the door!
They offered to bring me a courtesy car round there and then until I explained that mine was drivable.
Certainly get your neck sorted, mind. Emma had a small shunt like that over 10 years ago now. Bit stiff the next day but thought nothing of it. She's been suffering back problems ever since. :(

Rear panel is easily tweaked as required, but tricky to assess with the boot closed ;)

Not yet. I have his insurance details from askmid so I might call them on monday and just say "what's the deal?"

same happened to me recently. third party insurer contacted me, offered to fix car, offered a loan car. didn't delivery anything, then claimed they'd fixed the car even before they'd inspected it. Now they are not responding to correspondence at all - which is foolish because it will go to court for full loss
Keep all evidence, witness statements etc etc and treat it as if it may go to court from day 1 - when the insurers cotton on it is a low value claim they'll hope you go away.

Askmid came up with Summit at Llyods as the insurer. Not sure on how good/bad they are, time will tell. I haven't touched the car yet but I have to keep using it for work. I have all the photos from the scene including his bashed up beemer and he has been in touch today to confirm he has sent the details to his fleet insurer.

Was insured with them... Found them ok for dealing with things, but was a bit pissed when they made the Omega a cat C and then told me ::) especially as it was non fault...

Well the best I can hope for is CAT D, however I cannot see it warranting a CAT C.
Mind you just had my first problem with the boot lid. It is technically open, but of course jammed solid so the interior light was on. I pulled the fuse but the battery was still flat this evening. In all honesty it could have been flat after the interior boot light being on all night on friday (I only noticed it on Sat morning) but if I have pulled fuse 12 but the boot is open does it still drain the battery?
If so I could be in for a great week......

So it must have been already flat when I pulled the fuse. I will take the charger just in case.

So, an update.
I called his insurance company because Igot tired of waiting for them to call me, only to find out that.....get this......he was contesting liability..... :o
They were thus going to investigate. Ok, I said. I wanted to avoid going through my insurance but this leaves me no choice. Ta Ta.
20 minutes with M&S insurance and the claim is pretty much sorted. They took all the details of the accident, the damage and my neck injury. They informed me that they were going to go ahead and that it was likely beyond economical repair, semi-agreed a pre-accident value so all that is left to do is arrange for the physical inspection, the final value and the buy back price.
Oh, and then fix the ruddy thing. At least Ican use the left over cash to fit the interior I was planning and put the rest toward a new 2nd hand outboard :y

I still swear that the girl who rear ended SWMBO's Astra a few years back was on the phone. SWMBO slowed to a stop cos the car in front of her stopped to turn right. Young girl straight into the back of my wife's ... wrote the car off ..... when my wife walked back to her, she said 'You stopped' ??? ??? ??? ??? ??? At least she wrote her Mum's car off too ::)

True but fuse 12 covers the indicators, dashboard, radio....Oh and the internal lights lol

Just remembered seeing/reading this in PC magazine yesterday and have looked again to be sure.The VIC check was ended in September of last year,so don't know how this affects "right offs"?Others will of course know far more than I do.

Not bad... place I use typically charge £100 per panel... need to look into that as I have a silver tailgate which really needs to be black ::)
Tailgate swap, whilst pretty straightforward, is a two person job as it's bastid heavy ;)

Fitting that as part of the repair process could well help with ensuring that the floor is relatively square ;)

This is dragging on longer than I expected.
The update from today is that the assessor finally came out and looked at the car. Pointed out something I hadn't noticed in that the NSR quarter looks to have been pushed in a 2-3mm. This also means the boot floor might be buckled.
Bugger.

As soon as it was assessed & declared written off, the insurance company at the time said they were suspending its insurance as they couldn't continue to insure it. The boot floor is bent .... is it really worth it?
Couldn't or wouldn't ?? When Chris's clit was written off her Insurers refused to insure it .. transpired this is simply because they have a policy NOT to insure cat c/d cars at all. I had a new (to us) door put on and a new plastic wing, both resprayed by a proper bodyshop for 1/2 the cost of the insurers repairers estimate, and 2/3 rds of the amount they gave her. Car is now happily on the road and insured through Adrian Flux .. cat C and never had a VIC check - and now doesn't need one so thats around £100 saved .. :)

No idea. We took them up on their (eventual) generous offer ;) as in Matt's case, the car's 'chassis' was bent .... the rear near side door fouled on the wheel arch as you opened/closed it.

Really need to see it, but the outer panel only contacts the inner panel around the lower edge, up the tailgate seal and along the window line... If the tail light is still securely attached then I doubt the floor is that badly done... The light cluster bolts to both inner and outer panel, so significant intrusion would break the cluster... Also don't forget that the tailgate is now a different shape, altering the perspective of the rear quarters...
If the chassis rails are bent then you might have a point, but i'd be surprised if the assessor bothered to look underneath... The tailgate is £370 in parts alone... Bumper shell the same, plus another £100 for the crash bar... So nearly £800 before paint and labour... He would have written it off on a blury instamatic picture faxed to him tbh...
I have the official Thatcham repair manual, and have hands on experience of repairing these... Would also suggest the the rear end would be further strengthened with the fitting of the tow bar...
I will try to find the pics from the rear quarter damage on my white one... Inner wing was practically unscathed as was boot floor.

Had one policy down graded to Third party only cover pending a fresh Mot, not exactly unreasonable imho :-\
Should add, that was a.taxi policy with £3,000,000 public liability clause, so understandable behaviour under the circumstances ;)

Then it hasn't been fully assessed, although this is a moot point for the reason I outlined above... It was written off before he finished reading his appointment list... Turning up and actually looking at it is purely to make the customer, ie you, feel like the insurers are doing summat :-X

Confirmed by the assessor as CAT C. Offered 825 for it which was higher than I was expecting. So, options are:
- give it to them and use the cash toward another car.
- buy it back for 99 quid and scrap it.
- keep it, fix it, pocket the difference knowing that I could have insurance issues in the future. Current insurer is ok with it.
I didn't have the opportunity to get inside and check the boot floor. Hoping to get that done this week. It would be a pity to scrap as the engine is superb for a 2.5, it pulls like a 3.0. The other issues are just maintenance or cosmetic.

Your second option is a waste of time.
Fixing it will depend on what you need to do to make the tailgate shut properly; if that requires any pulling then it is also a waste of time
Difficult to say without actually seeing it, and that also involves getting the tailgate open...
But does raise an alternative option...
Adjust whatever requires adjusting to make the tailgate useable again, then run it as a beater until the MoT or car expire, whichever happens first... and if you go down the replacement route, I could possibly be persuaded to part with my black estate*...
*obviously subject to numbers ::)

Or a cracked head. Not entirely uncommon on those straight 6 beemer engines if they've got a little warm.
Look at it under the knowledge that a quick easy fix would have been done by him or his garage ;)

A few insurance underwriters won't touch Cat C/Ds, in the same way that some won't insure *anything* with modifications. This does cut down your choices, but its a competitive market, with lots of players ;)

However, Ihave a conundrum. Parts need painting prior to fitting, parts are near Crawley. I cannot fit parts until I remove boot lid and inspect the damage on the boot floor by the bottom of the boot lid. Once I remove boot lid, boot will no longer close.
So, how can I be sure that the boot floor is ok without removing the boot lid. Can I tie it closed again? If so I will kick the firker out :)

Better to open it systematically rather than charging in... What are you doing Saturday, say 10 onwards? Can perform exploratory operation and go from there... If it can be opened then it can also be closed... Once in a working position, you can then rummage for parts in the correct colour should you find mine unsuitable ;)

What about opening the boot lid, ripping the carpet trim off the inside of it, attaching a ratchet strap to the metal work somehow then looping it around the spare wheel (as long as the retainer is still holding the spare in).
To move my 2.6 with rear end damage I had the same issue, I just used a bungee cord and some strong tape to hold the lid down although I appreciate a saloon is different!

It's a 2000 (W reg) CD with 110k on the clock. Condition fair/good for age. I noticed that the Parkers price for miggies has gone up in recent years.

Better to open it systematically rather than charging in... What are you doing Saturday, say 10 onwards? Can perform exploratory operation and go from there... If it can be opened then it can also be closed... Once in a working position, you can then rummage for parts in the correct colour should you find mine unsuitable ;)

It's a 2000 (W reg) CD with 110k on the clock. Condition fair/good for age. I noticed that the Parkers price for miggies has gone up in recent years.
Sorry, Matt, I have to disagree. The price of scrap has plummeted over the past year.
Scrap prices may have, but the book prices for workimg miggies has improved on a few years back. Probably due to the scrapage scheme.

However, Ihave a conundrum. Parts need painting prior to fitting, parts are near Crawley. I cannot fit parts until I remove boot lid and inspect the damage on the boot floor by the bottom of the boot lid. Once I remove boot lid, boot will no longer close.

In essence you are passing hydrochloric acid that has not been fully neutralised by the gut due to it passing through too quick.

Recently had camera both ends and was given Klean-Prep. I must admit it certainly was industrial strength and I was as clean as a whistle watching the camera on the monitor. They found a polyp where my small intestine meets the large one, which they found awkward to remove. I will get the biopsy results on the 25th.
As this wasn't the source of my suspected blood loss I had a CT scan of my chest and pelvis yesterday.
