I was in Tesco this afternoon, and there I saw . . . . .
An aisle of Christmas stuff :o puddings, chocolate Santas, mince pies. No, not old stock being sold off. It's September FFS.
I took a picture, but not sorted an alternative to PB yet. Too lazy ;D
-
if you check the best before dates on the mince pies they run out in november :D
-
The people responsible MUST be added to TB's cull list.
Christmas runs from 11.59 PM 24th December to one minute past midnight on Christmas day.

The local Marriott Hotel to me, has a banner on its entrance, advertising "Book your Christmas party/Dinner now" Its been there a couple of weeks now ::)
I don't think of anything Chrimbo related until December :)
BTW Chrimbo dinner at the Marriott is £49/person, doesn't say if you get a cracker to pull for that price ;D

I was in a garden centre on Monday, which had a big space cleared and the Christmas stock was being put in there.
We are only just out of August ffs !
-
Mince pies in moreisons yesterday :(
Was tempted but thought it not the right time ;D

I was in the retail trade for almost 40 years, and during all that time Christmas started to come early; at the latest at the beginning of September with selling off the previous years stock, then it went to the end of August with new Christmas stock being offered for sale.
It is like Creme Eggs that we always put out in the week after Christmas, with all other Easter eggs coming soon after.
So nothing changes, and it is all down to Customer demand and your competition. The customers want it, and if as a retailer you don't do it, someone else will! Believe me, the stock sells, if it didn't no retailer would use very valuable shelf space to display this stock! ;)

Well, quite. If there were no sales, they wouldn't do it.
I just like being a grumpy old git by mentioning it ! ;D

I know Rog, everyone says what we do about this, moaning in jest about the seasons coming around all too quick, then buy a load of chocolates or mince pies! ;D ;D ;)
-
Bah, humbug!
-
I have no problem with mince pies being on sale at any time through the year as for me there is no "season" when it comes to eating them. But the other stuff absolutely not at least until December!

Especially if made with shortcrust pastry, none of this puff pastry pies lark ::) Trouble is when the packs have holly and snow and stuff, it just doesn't seem right in "summer". We will sometimes also have a turkey for a big Sunday lunch :)
-
Oh stop it!!I'm really fancying some mince pies and cream now :-*
-
Can we have Christmas smilies please? :)

Some folk, probably those with not a lot of money but plenty of time on their hands, like to spend what they can afford each week in the build up to Christmas. My poor mum used to get a loan from a doorstep lender every year and just about have it paid off in time for the next Christmas. She also used to get one of those awful Christmas hampers on tick. Does anyone remember jellied chicken in a tin? Gahhhhhhh...... ;D

Not quite the same as trying to flow Xmas pud in September, but point taken.
I seem to recall some time ago one of these Christmas Clubs going bust and loads of people losing their cash and having nothing at Christmas . . . .
Jellied Chicken in a tin Bleuggghhhh, no we were too posh ( or my Mum thought we were, a right Mrs Bucket )

And 'Eat Me' dates, tinned pork truncheon meat, tinned mandarin oranges......it was truly disgusting, but we still ate it, kids just do. :)

Really sad bar stewards are those that buy next years Christmas presents in the January sales like my ex-next door neighbour used to. :( :( :(
However, I was told yesterday that our works Christmas meal has been booked at Gouchos Piccadilly, decisions, decisions do I order the (Corbyn vegan not) 400, 500, 600 gram Agentenian fillet steak or do I go 'all in' on the carnivores feast full meat menu, a difficult choice? 8) 8) 8)

I really hate early Christmas shoppers like you. :P :P :P For real Christmas shoppers, like me, it starts with the 4pm dash on the 24th and then all finished by 5pm. :y :y :y Why would anybody need more time than this? IMO it makes Christmas much more enjoyable than a months and months long drawn out planning and shopping affair. :( :( :(

Can I come ? ;D
Even the smallest at 400 gm is sufficient for most, 600gm ? :o

He He. Reminds me of a restaurant I visited in Lanzarote a couple of years back. They wheeled out an almighty chunk of dead cow on a trolley and stood there poised with the knife. I motioned them to cut off what looked like a reasonable steak, then they came back and weighted it. 850g. Oops. :-[
Still, none was wasted. :-*

There used to be a restaurant in Cardiff where all meat and fish was laid out on a slab and you pointed at what you wanted and then they cooked it. Price was by the weight and could work out pretty £££££. Good though :y

If they laid a full lamb out on the slab there would be a queue........to shag it. ;D

When on holiday in Torquay a few years ago there was a pub in a lovely village just outside of the town that offered a deal that if you managed a 48oz rump steak with all the trimmings you got it for free, plus your name carved in one of the beams over the bar. Never tried it. ;D

........and they paid for your name to be inscribed into your headstone after you had suffered a fatal heart attack! :D :D ;) ;)

48Oz ? What's that in real money ?
48oz. Now let me see 16oz to the pound. so 48oz is 3 pound, Thanks to Google this is around 1.3Kg. That is a lot of meat ! When oh when are we going to get shot of these stupid Imperial measures, ounces. pounds, yards, miles. FFS
