Both of my XFR's have had warranty work undertaken for a fault with the central locking system.The car I now own had warranty work for a wing mirror that wouldn't fold and sounded like a loose nut in a food blender. £600 apparently.
Now both bonnet support struts have gone tits up. Luckily my head was not under the bonnet when they failed. :)
The 2 year warranty runs out in September. Any further repairs could prove expensive after that.
Time for a new car perhaps?

I believe there are a few Teslas going cheap. Very slight smell of smoke about them.

Actually, I've always been very fond of diesel cars. :)

I'm sure you'll imminently be receiving a glossy flyer explaining that, while JLR products are impeccably reliable, they'll happily sell you an extended warranry. For only slightly less than the average UK mortgage per month ::)

My dads Ford Fiesta has developed an intermittent fault still in warranty. Right when tested....
You would have thought by now that all problems would have been ironed out on new cars.

Wifey's astra had a new accelerator pedal switch under warranty last week. Apparently, they'd 'had a few in'. But, with reference to your comment about new cars, I doubt Vauxhall had anything to do with making the electrical components.

Haven't Suburu just issued recall in Yankee land with brake switches being incompatible with owner's hygiene products. I believe they are trying to avoid having to do a global recall. Bless the Japs...

astra G 8valve Z16SE year 2000 is DBW so 18 years ago
as is the 2.6 & 3.2 omega 2001 -2004
the x16szr 8 valve astra engine had a cable 1998 -2002 ,loved those simple engines

You knew where you were with a throttle cable that you could pull on under the bonnet. :y
My 1982 Y Reg Astra MK 1 was one of the last cars with contact breaker 'points'

I would use a light bulb and two 'croc clips' to set the timing. I couldn't afford a strobe light. On 2 stoke bikes of the time I would find TDC by very gently pushing a screwdriver down the 'plug hole' until it just touched the top of the piston.
Should have used a dial gauge really. :-\

I knew where I was ....... stuck flat out in a 3.0S and hurtling towards a roundabout, because the throttle cable had frayed and wouldn't return back in its sleeve. Made for an interesting few seconds before I bought it to a halt. ::)

That brings back memories. :) In fact, if I had to do it on the MotoX bike I'd still do it that way. :y Just got to be gentle with the kickstart. ;D

No. I'm not unduly concerned as most problems have been minor and covered by warranty anyway. Neither XFR I have owned have missed a beat mechanically, which is probably more than can be said of the XJ6 and XJ12 that were built (thrown together) in the seventies by slovenly communists. ::)
Main expenses seems to come in the form of petrol and tyres. :y
Major service £285......minor service around £200 which is no more than STMO pays fof Mrs STMO's derv Astra. :)

Something to consider.
.......but so far it seems reasonably trouble free. :)

I though that was why Tata owners wear flat caps when driving, so they place it by the car with a sign: "Car, wife & whippet to keep, please give generously", when it grinds to a halt! :P :P :P
