Because I have wealth beyond compare ::) I've decided to pay an additional £9.95 for an OCT scan.
Worth having, or complete waste of money?
Does anyone have experience of this?
-
I haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.
I had an eye test once. Primary school. I was shitting myself, in case it turned out I was going to be a Speccy. Fortunately I passed* with flying colours.
*Though the oppswits never picked up I'm colour blind, useless tossers.

How does that work, with a 32,000 pair cable and all? ;D

I'm not a speccy twa*t....just a twa*t... :)

It allows them to take a more detailed look inside your eyes for damage or unhealthy areas than has previously been possible. They'll probably show you the images, which are interesting.
I reckon it's worth a tenner every couple of years, especially as I don't pay for the rest of the eye test.

Do it., £10 for your health.
-
This reminds me. I have worn the same specs for over 10 years. Should really sort out some new ones. ::)

Given the cost of glasses and everything else. £10 is peanuts. I get it done. It's quite interesting if they take the time to explain it all. And hopefully reassuring.

Guesswork.
Biggest I saw when I was on the tools was a 4000pair, which only had White/Orange, Slate/Red and Green/Black. And I can only count to ten, as I'm not from Suffolk.

I was made to take a colourblindness test before I was given the job. Fail and no job. That was in 1969, before you were born ;D

OCT scan.... Is that the retina scan? ??? :-\
I haven't had an eye test for about five years so I suppose I should go and have one. ::)
My NHS dentist retired, so I need to find another one which might be a challenge. :-\ :(

If you can't tell the difference between a dentists and an opticians sign, I'd definitely go for an eye test. To an optician.

my school eye test at age 12:
Take your glasses off and read as much as you can on the chart.
Me - if i take my glasses off I can't see the chart
Just do as your told and stop being cheeky
Me (takes off glasses)- I can't see the chart
Just read what you can - you can read can't you?
Me - i can tell you what I can remember from before I took my glasses off or I can put them back on & try ?
Sigh, OK, what can you read with glasses?
Me (reads whole chart)
Have you been examined by an optician?
Me - (very quietly) where do you think I got the glasses?
Self preservation kicked in at this point and I left before it got any weirder ::)

That was one small step for man but one giant leap for mankind.

How come you don't pay, Nick?
As far as I can see it is only old people and people in prison who are exempt

As a type 2 diabetic, and to keep the DVLA happy, I have to have regular, 6 / 12 month, full eye tests with scans that show every detail of your eyes. They are always free and tell the experts if my eye sight is deteriorating or not as I get older. These tests started, before I was 60, when I had to treat my diabetes with insulin. ;)

Lizzie.....can a comprehensive eye test 'pick up' diabetes?. I hear that some/many people are unaware they have it. I know, for example, that a dentist can often 'pick up' early signs of throat cancer.
-
Free tests can also be had through employer's vouchers if you work at a screen.

I believe this can cause problems if used to excess. :-\

No idea Opti, but I suspect the experts in the diabetic field who view these scans would see the damage they do, caused by in my case sugar, and come to a conclusion pointing towards someone having that illness. ;)

Yeah, it would have been picked up then, had I had an interview for the job... ...which I didn't.

Family history as both parents have been treated for glaucoma and cataracts, plus I had ocular hypertension a few years ago which also qualifies me.
Damage to the eyes is one of the earlier visible signs of diabetes, and eye tests have included a check for it for many years.

Hmmm maybe I shouldn't neglect my eye tests as I have family history of diabetes, as my Dad, my Uncle, and my Nan all had it.
Type one I think. :-\
So I need to find an Optician as well as a Dentist! ;D

Best check you are not pregnant as well.
The NHS needs to know if you need a scan for some reason. :)

Yes it's a strange world we live in, where a man can get knocked up by a woman with a penis! ::)

Yes....bepenised women are all the rage at the moment....but it's good for society to be inclusive. :)
-
It’s great when they send the bepenised woman to an all woman jail too, a great population boost as reported earlier in the week.

Perhaps I'm old fashioned but I'm going to stick with the 'old style woman' the type with a vagina.
I can't imagine any normal men are going to be interested in banging a 'bepenised woman'...... :)
-
Me neither, but I bet they have a whale of a time there😱 and I meant so called women but with a penis. Funny how it’s so confusing lately 🤣🤣

I know what you mean.
I watched a documentary recently where a man who had fathered three children now decides he is a woman. He said he was now mother to his kids and wanted them to call him mum instead of dad. :-X
Hours of expensive therapy in this scenario. :-X
-
Wow that’s crazy Messing the kids up as well then🙁

Cock in moist pussy is normal. :)

And always will be👍

Wow that’s crazy Messing the kids up as well then🙁
And exactly why several US states have made it illegal to suggest anything to K-3 aged children and why Disney has had it's self governance revoked after Sixty some years of being able to do whatever they wanted. I can only imagine what happened when Sleeping Beauty awoke to find out that she was a thespian and Prince Charming was anything but...
-
Eyes now tested, and OCT scan performed.....about £35 in total.
No sign of glaucoma or macular degeneration which is good. :y
Apparently though I need a zap with something called a YAG laser/lazer to remove some 'cloudiness' in one eye. Takes about 5 minutes.
If there is a long (endless) waiting list on the NHS because of the slitty-eye sniffle I am happy to go private.

Have Disney made Prince Charming into a homosexual?
In which case he won't be wanting to kiss any girls. ;D

If Disney have made Prince Charming into a trans-sexual, it's a given that they will be a lesbian and they will want to kiss all the girls! :)
Whether the girls will want to kiss Princess Charming is another matter, but I'm sure they will be branded as disgusting transphobic types if they don't, even if they are not lesbian! ::)
-
Or if they are
-
A man has as much right to be a lesbian as a woman in 2022. :)
-
Bring it on ;D
-
Bring it on ;D
My idea of a lesbian is tall, leggy and blonde with a decent rack. Not bearded and bepenised with a beer gut. ::)
-
Wow strange that’s just what I was thinking :y
