Eye test
« on: 20 April 2022, 14:57:39 »

Because I have wealth beyond compare  ::) I've decided to pay an additional £9.95 for an OCT scan.

Worth having, or complete waste of money?

Does anyone have experience of this?

I haven't the faintest idea what you are talking about.

I had an eye test once. Primary school.  I was shitting myself, in case it turned out I was going to be a Speccy.  Fortunately I passed* with flying colours.

I did that about a month ago.
It allows them to take a more detailed look inside your eyes for damage or unhealthy areas than has previously been possible. They'll probably show you the images, which are interesting.

I reckon it's worth a tenner every couple of years, especially as I don't pay for the rest of the eye test.

This reminds me. I have worn the same specs for over 10 years. Should really sort out some new ones.  ::)

Given the cost of glasses and everything else. £10 is peanuts. I get it done. It's quite interesting if they take the time to explain it all. And hopefully reassuring.

Guesswork.

Biggest I saw when I was on the tools was a 4000pair, which only had White/Orange, Slate/Red and Green/Black.  And I can only count to ten, as I'm not from Suffolk.

I was made to take a colourblindness test before I was given the job. Fail and no job. That was in 1969, before you were born  ;D

OCT scan....  Is that the retina scan?  ???  :-\

I haven't had an eye test for about five years so I suppose I should go and have one.  ::)

My NHS dentist retired, so I need to find another one which might be a challenge.  :-\  :(

If you can't tell the difference between a dentists and an opticians sign, I'd definitely go for an eye test. To an optician.
